HINESVILLE, Ga. (WTOC) - Sunday, the bodies of two missing Liberty County firefighters were found in Tennessee. The Hinesville Police Department said the bodies of Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, along with Anderson’s vehicle, were found in Cocke County.

The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are looking into this case.

The TBI tells reported that the bodies have been sent for an autopsy and are awaiting results.

Here is a timeline of everything leading up to Sunday’s discovery.

This all started in Pooler on June 22nd.

That’s when a Hinesville Police report cites an incident, quote, “where Ms. Anderson came into an Olive Garden in Pooler where Mr. Kuhbander was on a date. Ms. Anderson caused a disturbance with Mr. Kuhbander, and she walked outside and keyed his vehicle.” As a result, Anderson was arrested.

Two days later, on June 24, the Liberty County Fire Department demoted Anderson and placed her on administrative leave.

The next day, Tuesday, June 25, the department’s deputy chief asked for a welfare check to be done on Anderson’s home. Hinesville police officers didn’t find anyone in the home but did find a note that appeared to be left by Anderson saying she might harm herself.

On that same day, Kuhbander is last seen leaving the Crunch Fitness in Savannah at around 11:30 a.m. Police say security footage shows him leaving the gym, but his vehicle was left in the parking lot, and he was never seen again.

Later that day, Anderson is seen pumping gas at a Circle K in Prosperity, South Carolina. Kuhbander is not seen there, but when WTOC spoke with his mother last week, she says that’s the last place his phone was tracked to.

After that, police say her vehicle was seen travelling in the direction of Tennessee.

The two were ultimately found dead on Hollow Road in Cosby, Tennessee, along with Anderson’s vehicle.

The TBI is working alongside the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office and confirm the bodies have been sent for an autopsy.

As we await those results, we’ve been asking the TBI several questions. We want to know if there were any weapons found inside the vehicle. We’re also asking if they found any drugs in the area. Another question - simply to describe the area they were found, asking whether it’s a highly traveled area or more secluded.

Jane Kuhbander, the mother of Chandler Kuhbander, sent a statement to WTOC saying, “my son was amazing. He worked hard and loved even harder. He never wanted to see anyone sad or suffering. I want people to take away that men are victims too. Be a voice for the voiceless! He wouldn’t want this tragedy to be for nothing. Hold your loved ones tighter and never leave angry or without an I love you.”

Police have not confirmed the circumstances surrounding the death of Chandler Kuhbander and Raegan Anderson.
