Soldiers with SC National Guard reunite with families after nearly a year-long deployment

Soldiers of the 1782nd Engineer Support Company from the South Carolina National Guard (SCNG) reunited with their families after being gone for nearly a year.

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Soldiers of the 1782nd Engineer Support Company from the South Carolina National Guard (SCNG) reunited with their families after being gone for nearly a year.

According to SCNG, the united deployed in support of Combined Joint Task Force Horn of Africa. While there, the soldiers “improved the force protection posture, completed 16 complex construction projects, and spent over 6,000 man hours on critical force protection projects,” SCNG said.

The homecoming happened in West Columbia on Tuesday, July 2.

The 1782nd Engineer Support Company transferred authority of the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa engineering mission to the 1151st Engineer Support Company from the Alabama National Guard.
