USC police say student robbed close to campus while walking on sidewalk

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The University of South Carolina Police Department reported that a student was robbed on sidewalk at around 2 a.m. on Saturday.

According to university officials, the student was robbed near Blossom Street and Sumter Street in the campus area.

The student was walking on a nearby sidewalk and approached by a vehicle. The driver and passenger, one of them wearing a mask, “forcefully removed” items from the student’s pockets, according to the USC alert.

Authorities said the suspects were last seen driving away from campus in a white pick-up truck.

The suspects have not yet been arrested, the crime alert said.

The Columbia Police Department and USCPD are investigating this crime.
