COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Asher is an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd up for adoption or foster at Pawmetto Lifeline.

A Good Samaritan found Asher running along Columbiana Drive. He appeared to be well taken care of but was not microchipped and an owner was not able to be located.

Asher was just found 1 week ago, so Pawmetto Lifeline staff are still getting to know him. The number one thing they have learned so far is that Asher loves being around people! He does not like to be left alone and would love a family that is home most of the day. A retired person or someone who works from home would be ideal for him so he can hang out with his humans all the time!

Asher is a very sweet guy who enjoys being petted. He loves to go for walks! He is quite mellow and does well meeting new people. He has done great around cats but is selective of his canine friends. He would love to meet your dog and see if they are a match!

Pawmetto Lifeline is seeking an experienced Australian Shepherd owner or someone who is willing to learn about the breed and train with him. Australian Shepherds are very loyal herding dogs who like to have a job to do, otherwise they get anxious. Right now, Asher just loves to relax and lay around the house but, once he gets more comfortable in a home setting, he will probably become more active and playful.

Asher is still a bit anxious about being lost and trying to adjust to the new things going on around him. He scratches and bites himself when he is feeling anxious, which has irritated his skin a bit but he is on medications to clear up a mild skin infection. Human companionship brings him peace and calmness. He is getting more and more comfortable every day with his new surroundings and really needs a stable family and lifestyle to transition into.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Asher, please complete an Adoption or Foster Application online at www.pawmettolifeline.org.
