Earlier this year, Rep. Jeff Duncan announced he would not seek reelection for District 3. Seven Republicans and two Democrats were vying to replace Duncan in the U.S. House.
GOP candidates on Tuesday’s ballot were: Sheri Biggs, Kevin Bishop, Mark Burns, Franky Franco, Phil Healy, Stewart Jones and Espeth Snow Murday.
The Associated Press projects that Biggs and Burns will advance to a runoff election on June 25.

Bryon Best and Frances Guldner were competing for the Democratic nomination. The Associated Press projected Best to win the nomination.
Guldner released the following statement conceding the race:
“I throw my support behind Bryon Best for this congressional race. The country needs a working Congress and the Republican front runners will just add to the gridlock. And, in two years, look for me on the ballot again.”
UPSTATE SHERIFF RACES
Multiple Upstate counties had candidates for sheriff on Tuesday’s primary ballot. Full interviews with all the candidates for sheriff are available in the FOX Carolina Voters’ Guide.
All incumbent sheriff candidates in the Upstate are projected to win reelection.
In Greenville County, Sheriff Hobart Lewis was challenged for the Republican nomination by Mike Fortner. Lewis, who has more than 80 percent of the votes counted so far, is projected to win. No Democrats or third-party candidates are running for sheriff so Hobart will be the only registered candidate on November’s ballot.

In Laurens County, incumbent Sheriff Don Reynolds was challenged by Chris Wilkes for the GOP nomination. Reynolds is projected to win with more than 70 percent of the votes.
