MANNING, S.C. – (WIS) After a fiery campaign from both teams, Incumbent State Senator Kevin Johnson has claimed victory over challenger Eleazer Carter in the Senate District 36 Democratic primary.

The win comes after months of accusations of nepotism and carpetbagging for the Midlands state Senate seat.

Sen. Kevin Johnson, D-Clarendon, ran for re-election to the District 36 seat, which includes parts of Sumter and Clarendon counties.

The race between these two men who knew each other well had gotten contentious in recent weeks.
