CLEMSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - In game one of the best-of-three NCAA Super Regional series, Clemson lost to Florida 10-7 Saturday at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

But it looked good early with Clemson earning a 4-1 lead through three innings in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 6,000 people.

The Tigers held the lead until the Florida offense exploded for 7 runs in the 5th inning, which gave the Gators a 9-4 lead.

But comeback Clemson, with the most come-from-behind wins in the ACC this season, clawed its way back into the Super Regional.

The Tigers scored one run in the 5th inning and two runs in the 6th inning to cut the Florida lead to just two runs at 9-7 while looking for the team’s 26th come-from-behind win this season.

They couldn’t come all the way back. Florida scored an insurance home-run in the top of the 9th to take a 10-7 lead and held Clemson scoreless in the final frame.

Clemson and Florida continue the Super Regional series with game two starting at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

If Florida wins Sunday, they’ll be the Super Regional champions and advance back to the College World Series.

If Clemson wins Sunday, that would force a winner-take-all third game on Monday at a time to be announced with the winner earning a spot in the College World Series.

If the Tigers can win two straight against Florida, they would make their first trip to Omaha, N.E. since 2010.
