CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Former Panthers star Christian McCaffrey inked a massive contract on Tuesday.

The NFL says McCaffrey signed a two-year, $38 million extension to make him the highest-paid running back in the league.

McCaffrey, who was traded from Carolina in the 2022 season, earned Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2023 after recording 1,459 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, with 564 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, McCaffrey will average about $19 million annually.
