GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Clemson Athletics announced that PGA Tour golfer and former Tiger Lucas Glover received the Order of the Palmetto award from South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster on Friday.

Started by South Carolina Governor John C. West in 1971, the Order of the Palmetto is considered the state’s highest civilian honor.

At Clemson, Glover was a three-time All-American between 1998 and 2001. During that time, Glover helped the program earn four top-ten national finishes, including second in 1998 and third in 2001. Glover is also a Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame member and will be inducted into the State of South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame in May.

Glover grew up in South Carolina and attended Wade Hampton High School, where he was a three-time All-American and earned two state championships.

Glover has earned six wins since turning pro in 2001, including the 2009 U.S. Open.

Glover received the award Friday following the second round of the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
