COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Brad is a 7-week-old Golden Retriever puppy up for adoption at Pawmetto Lifeline.

Brad is a very special boy. He came to Pawmetto Lifeline from a terrible breeding situation, which has contributed to a genetic medical condition. Brad has an ectopic ureter. It is not properly connected to his bladder, which causes leakage outside of the bladder. Basically,  he dribbles a lot and often squats to pee and nothing comes out.

The corrective surgery would relocate the ureter to a normal location. There is roughly a 30-50% chance that a dog will have incontinence after the procedure, but it is generally more successful in male dogs. Veterinarians advise to wait until the puppy is older for a better chance at success. Pawmetto Lifeline is currently raising funds to cover the cost of this extremely expensive surgery.

Brad needs a hero! He is absolutely adorable but Pawmetto Lifeline is seeking a very special home for him. He needs a family who is home often and can attend to his needs. Right now, he has been wearing “belly bands” to capture his dribbles which need to be changed throughout the day. It is very important to keep the area clean and dry to prevent any infections.

Brad truly needs someone that has the time and patience to commit to him for the rest of his life and whatever that may bring! Give him your unconditional love forever and he will do the same in return!

Brad is super sweet and charming! He loves to be held and carried around. His fur is very soft and he is so cuddly! Brad loves to play with toys and other dogs! Brad loves everyone!

Because of Brad’s special needs, the breeder was going to euthanize or dump him since he couldn’t sell him. Pawmetto Lifeline does not believe in euthanizing an animal for a treatable medical condition! This is why the McDaniels Subaru Bark to the Park fundraiser is so important, so they do not have to turn away pets with treatable medical conditions.

Help save more pets like Brad by signing up for Bark to the Park! The event will be at Saluda Shoals Park on April 13 and will be a fun day full of hundreds of dogs, entertainment, goodies, refreshments and more! Learn more about this life-saving fundraiser and register at barktothepark.com.
