COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Pentagon is addressing claims from a Fort Jackson officer who said she was retaliated against after a sexual assault report.

1st Lt. Tanisha Crisp told WIS she was harassed by her battalion commander despite initially being shown support when she filed the sexual assault report in December 2023.

According to Fort Jackson, Crisps’ sexual assault case is still under open investigation, but her complaint about retaliation — handled as a commander’s inquiry — was found to be “unsubstantial.”

After Crisp’s story aired on WIS, Crisp forwarded Investigative Reporter Deric Rush an email that appeared to be from U.S. Army Inspector General Agency (OIG) in Washington, D.C., sent to her Wednesday morning that stated a case about her allegations of reprisal had been opened by the department.

WIS reached out to OIG to confirm the case and the details surrounding it, but hasn’t heard back yet.
