A.C. Flora senior named 2024 Richland County Girls Basketball Player of the Year
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - The Richland County Recreation Commission has named an A.C. Flora High School senior the 2024 Richland County High School Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
The student, Terriana Gray, was announced as the winner of the title during a ceremony at Seawell’s on Wednesday. Gray was chosen by a panel of voters from Columbia media outlets and 14 head girls’ basketball coaches from high schools across Richland County.
“I feel good. I worked for this award. It shows the type of player I am for them to give me that,” Gray said.
Gray received a $2,000 scholarship. Officials said Gray plans to play collegiate basketball but is unsure of where she wants to play.
In a tweet on Thursday, Gray said she is releasing her commitment to Alabama A&M after the women’s basketball head coach, Margaret Richards stepped down.

A.C. Flora’s head coach Jacob Thompson said Gray played a key role in helping her team make it as far as they did.
“Terriana leads by example. There’s no complaining when we’re asking the players to do a drill. When it’s time to put in a game plan to get ready, she’s always there giving her input because she’s watched them or she remembers what the team did from previous times. Terriana’s leadership is silent until game time,” said Thompson.
Five other Richland One student-athletes were nominated for the award, they were:
· Ineara Glover – Dreher High School
· Chanyse Green – Lower Richland High School
· Dymond Harmon – W.J. Keenan High School
· Quindi Nelson – Eau Claire High School
· Ni’Kereyah Pearson – C.A. Johnson High School
Officials said the nominees must be selected by their coaches, be a senior, have at least a 2.5 grade point average in all core classes, be a positive role model and be active in their community.
