Fort Jackson identifies National Guardsman who died after collapsing during run
FORT JACKSON, S.C. (WIS) - The National Guardsman who passed away Monday afternoon while attending the Institute for Religious Leadership (USA-IRL) at Fort Jackson has been identified.
According to the Army post, when 2nd Lt. Pascal Buma, 38, collapsed during the morning physical training ability group run, instructors and students gave him aid until Fort Jackson EMS arrived. Buma was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, officials added.

Burma was a Chaplain Basic Officer Leader Course student and member of the Oklahoma National Guard.
“It is with great sorrow that we mourn the loss of one of our own,“ USA-IRL Commandant, Chaplain (COL) Louis DelTufo said. “We ask for your prayers for the Family, fellow students and our staff here at the Institute.”
USA-IRL personnel are providing support to the family and teammates of Buma.
