LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Bond reduction was denied for the former military officer accused of killing his wife.

The attorney for Nicholas Kassotis requested a bond reduction hearing in a Liberty County courtroom. Kassotis had bond set in August 2023 at $5 million cash or $10 million property.

The argument for the bond reduction was that Kassotis would not be a flight risk since he had limited funds available to him.

The prosecutors argued that Kassotis had recently been indicted and was a flight risk because he possessed different driver’s licenses with different names on them.

The judge denied the bond reduction request.

Kassotis is accused of murdering his wife, Mindi Mebane Kassotis. Her dismembered body was found in multiple places in Liberty and McIntosh counties in December of 2022.
