United States

The United States of America is a country of 50 states in North America that was founded by European settlers and enslaved Africans and declared independence from Britain on July 4, 1776. It is the third largest country after China and India and has a population of more than 333 million. Recognised as the world’s foremost power, the US has influence as a founding member of the United Nations and Nato alliance. It accounts for over a quarter of the global GDP and its current president is Joe Biden, who leads a Democratic government.
