Scottish National Party

The Scottish National Party is a left-wing social democratic political party. It was founded in 1934 and Sir Alexander MacEwen became the party’s first leader. The party advocates for Scottish independence from the United Kingdom and for Scotland to rejoin the European Union. It is the largest political party in Scotland in terms of seats and membership. John Swinney is the party’s leader, following Humza Yousaf and Nicola Sturgeon.
