Sajid Javid

Sajid Javid is a former secretary of state for health and social care. He is the Conservative  MP for Bromsgrove. Born in December 1969, Javid attended school in Bristol before reading economics and politics at the University of Exeter. Javid developed an interest in finance as a teenager and was politically inspired by Margaret Thatcher’s strategy for the Falklands War. He joined the Conservatives in 1990 and first assumed office in 2010 after an 18-year career in banking. In July 2022 Javid resigned as health secretary following the sexual assault allegations surrounding the Tory MP Chris Pincher. He entered the ensuing Tory leadership race, but pulled out before the first ballot.
