Ron DeSantis

Ron DeSantis is the governor of Florida and a former candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. He is known for declaring a “war on woke” after taking actions such as limiting the teaching in schools of gender identity and sexuality issues by signing the Parental Rights in Education Act, which has been labelled the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. After graduating from Yale University and Harvard Law School, DeSantis joined the US Navy and was deployed to Iraq as a legal adviser to special forces in 2007 for eight months. He was elected to Congress in 2012 and became an ally of Donald Trump, the former president and Republican front-runner. In January 2024, he withdrew his candidacy from the Republican presidential nomination and endorsed Donald Trump as his selection.
