Lucy Letby

Lucy Letby is a nurse who has been found guilty of murdering seven newborns and attempting to murder another six, making her the worst baby killer in modern British history. She was convicted on August 18, 2023, of carrying out the attacks at the Countess of Chester Hospital neonatal unit in 2015 and 2016. A lengthy trial at Manchester crown court was told the babies were killed in various ways, including having air injected into their bloodstream or stomach, being overfed with milk, subjected to physical assaults or poisoned with insulin. Letby wrote on a Post-it note: “I killed them on purpose” and “I am evil I did this”. Nick Johnson KC, the prosecutor, invited the jurors to read the note “literally” as a confession.
