Liberal Democrats

The Liberal Democrats are a political party in the United Kingdom. The party was founded in 1988 as the Social and Liberal Democrats and, since the 1992 general election, has grown into the UK’s third-largest party by votes cast. The party sits left and centre-left with a socially liberal ideology. It advocates for the decentralisation of power to regions of England and electoral reform in favour of proportional representation. Its manifesto calls for a fair economy; fair access to public services; a flourishing environment; a strong United Kingdom and fair international order; and a truly fair democracy. Ed Davey is the party’s current leader.
