Greece is a country in southeast Europe with a population of roughly 11 million people. It is seen as the birthplace of western civilisation and a progenitor of democracy. After the global financial crisis of 2007-08, Greece faced a government debt crisis that led to multiple bailouts from the International Monetary Fund and European Central Bank.
