Giorgia Meloni

Giorgia Meloni became the first woman to hold the role of prime minister in Italy when she was elected in 2022. She entered politics at a young age first through the Youth Front, the young wing of the neo-fascist Italian Social Movement, which dissolved in 1995. She became a prominent conservative figure after serving in various government positions including minister of youth from 2008 to 2011. Meloni has been the leader of the right-wing Brothers of Italy party since 2014 and has been a vocal advocate for national sovereignty, traditional values and tougher immigration policies.
