George Galloway

George Galloway is the MP for Rochdale and leader of the Workers Party of Britain. He founded the socialist party in 2019 in response to Jeremy Corbyn’s resignation as Labour leader, after a landslide defeat in that year’s general election. He has served as MP for three different constituencies and represented the Labour, Independent Labour, Respect and All for Unity parties. Galloway won the 2024 Rochdale by-election with a majority of nearly 40 per cent. He describes himself as a socialist and socially conservative, and was expelled from Labour in 2003 over his opposition to the Iraq war.
