Ed Davey

Sir Edward Davey has been the leader of the Liberal Democrats since 2020 and was first elected as the MP for Kingston and Surbiton in 1997. In the coalition government Davey was minister for postal affairs until 2012, during which time he met the sub-postmaster Alan Bates and faced protests by postal workers in his constituency. He then joined David Cameron’s cabinet as secretary of state for energy and climate change until the 2015 election when he lost his seat, regaining it in 2017.
