Boris Johnson

Boris Johnson became prime minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party in July 2019. He entered parliament while editing The Spectator, became mayor of London in 2008 and later foreign secretary between 2016 and 2018. Johnson led the campaign for Brexit and saw it through as prime minister. In 2022 he became the first British prime minister found to have broken the law in office, receiving a fixed-penalty notice for attending his own birthday party during a coronavirus lockdown. In July 2022 Johnson resigned as prime minister following a wave of resignations by Tory MPs in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against the Tory MP Chris Pincher.
