Bernie Sanders

Bernie Sanders is an American politician who has represented Vermont in the US Senate since 2007. Sanders stood twice on a left-wing platform to be the Democratic Party nominee for president of the United States in 2016 and 2020, finishing in second place in both campaigns. Before entering the Senate he served as a congressman and mayor for Burlington in Vermont. Formally unaffiliated with any political party, he is the longest serving independent in US congressional history.
