Igor Severino is first UFC fighter to be disqualified for BITING in gruesome attack on Andre Lima’s arm at UFC Vegas 89
IGOR SEVERINO became the first fighter in UFC history to be disqualified for BITING an opponent.
The Brazilian made his octagon debut in the early hours of Sunday morning on the UFC Vegas 89 prelims at the promotion's Apex facility.
But he stunned fight fans around the world when he made a meal of fellow debutant Andre Liam in the second round of their flyweight showdown.
The 20-year-old sunk his gnashers into his countryman's left arm as he tried to haul him to the ground with a single-leg takedown against the fence.
Lima immediately complained to referee Chris Tognoni about the sickening bite, prompting officials to stop the action and review the video footage.
But Tognoni had already seen enough when Lima raised his arm to show a clear set of bite marks and DQ'd the debutant at the 2:52 mark of the second round.

Footage of the incident went viral and stunned fight fans, with one saying: "Dude went full Mike Tyson."
Another said: "Well this is a first."
And another said: "Tyson is proud."

MMA fans around the world immediately called for UFC President and CEO Dana White to cut Severino from the promotion.
And White wasted little time giving him his marching orders, telling Kevin Iole: "Those were two up-and-coming undefeated fighters.
“If you get frustrated and want out of the fight, there are plenty of ways to do it.
"But the worst thing you can do is bite your opponent.
"Now, you get cut and lose the biggest opportunity of your life.
"Not to mention, he’s going to have real problems with the NSAC.”
