'We need free period products in schools – it's a human right' – video

A teenager from London, Amika George campaigns against period poverty. One in 10 girls in the UK miss school because they cannot afford pads and tampons, and George describes the ‘horrific’ alternatives some are forced to use. She spoke to the Guardian at an awards ceremony in New York where she was being honoured for her work
