For more than 30yrs now, organic blueberries have been grown, plucked, and enjoyed at this East Texas farmstead. Lake Creek Blueberry Farm, located in Montalba, is a family-owned establishment that invites you and your family to come visit and harvest your own batch of berries!
THE FAMILY FARM
“Let’s open up to the public and let them enjoy.”
The dream started in 1988 as the Evans family committed to planting 8,500 blueberry bushes on their shared farmland. The berries did extremely well here, leading to a boom in commercial sells. Later in 2014, Judy Evans and her husband decided to purchase the land outright and turn it into a destination where families can come and enjoy themselves.

PICKING & PLUCKING
“We have buckets for people to pick their own blueberries and harnesses that go on like a backpack.”
Picking berries here at Lake Creek is such a relaxing and memorable experience! As you walk into the office, you are given a bucket attached to a harness. This allows you for some prime picking, as you have both of your hands free to grab blueberries. As you walk out into the rolling fields, you are met by row after row of tall bushes. The berries come off the branches with ease, making it great for any age to participate.
Here’s a tip: Judy shared with us that the best berries are towards the center of the bush, as they get more shade and time to grow.
Also, feel free to snack on a few blueberries right off the bush. You’ll be amazed how sweet they are!

Once your bucket is filled to the brim, make your way back to the office. There, the Lake Creek crew will help you bag and weigh your haul for purchase. If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time for picking, there are tons of pre-plucked bags of refrigerated berries available for pick up.
A PLEASANT PLACE FOR FAMILIES
The ever-long rows of the blueberry bushes and happy bunny rabbits that inhabit the land make Lake Creek Farm such an enjoyable experience for guests. Judy expressed just how much families love it here. Even during our visit, numerous families were seen toting and filling their buckets with joy and silliness.
