African American Music Month Celebration Musical Film Series

In celebration of African American Music Month Appreciation, the Empowerment CDC/Texas African American Museum will be hosting five Musical Films at the Veretta and Jesse E. Rose City Comedy Presents: Jon Reep at Blackhawk Creek Grill

Jon Reep is a nationally touring comedian whose contemporary country point of view has won over legions of fans in comedy clubs, on tv and in film. As a stand-up he’s built a following through his hilarious comedy specials and winning appearance on Last Comic Standing. As an actor, he’s known for his performances in Eastbound and Down, has appeared in the Tig Notaro series One Mississippi, Black-Ish, and may be best known as “Raymus, the pot smoking farmer” from Harold and Kumar: Escape From Guantanamo Bay or as “Hemi Guy” from Dodge’s popular ad campaign. He can now be seen in the current season of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM.

Cryptozoology: Myths and Legends Walk
- When: 9am
- Where: Lake Tawakoni State Park, Wills Point
- Cost: $5 (Park Entry)
Learn about the strange creatures like Bigfoot and the Lost Elves and how many cultures share similar stories. Prepare: Wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes. Bring water and apply sunscreen or bug repellent, as needed. Hike will be 0.5-1 mile on moderate terrain. No registration required. Meet: Meet your guide at the Spring Point Branch Trailhead. Parking is available near trailhead. Restrooms are located near the trailhead.
Stained Glass Mushrooms with Kerian Massey

Burger Eating Contest

- Cost: $50 Entry
$50 entry fee at least $ cash prizes for 1st and 2nd. We will adjust prizes based upon entries. 1st place will receive a trophy. We will have talented live music, balloon and likely a slide bounce house for the kids.
Blast Over Bullard

This is one of our most attended events and there will be activities for all ages, games, local retail vendors, food vendors and more. Enjoy all the fun and live music from local talent leading up to the big fireworks show to end the night!
