A 17-year-old fired a gun inside a car, killing a man, and now faces a count of negligent homicide, Port Allen police said.
Jacolby Jones, 24, arrived at the Our Lady of the Lake emergency room on Airline Highway around 7:13 p.m. Saturday with a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead, according to a news release. Investigators say Lawrence Williams, 17, was a passenger in the car when the gun went off, killing Jones.
The teen was arrested Monday and booked on a count of negligent homicide and a count of illegal possession of a firearm by a juvenile, the release said. He will be tried as an adult, the police department said.
The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
