Candace Owens Claims 'Christian Holocaust' Being Ignored

Candace Owens has stated that there is a "Christian holocaust" taking place around the world that is largely being ignored.

The conservative commentator, who recently announced that she had converted to Catholicism, shared her thoughts on the way Christians are treated as she sat down for her recent appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored.

During the conversation, Morgan asked Owens why she hadn't immediately shared her thoughts on social media over Hamas' October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, where local officials say that roughly 1,200 people were killed in the ambush, during which about 250 people were taken hostage.

Much of Gaza has since been razed by Israeli forces, with many of its 2.3 million residents displaced. More than 37,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its invasion of Gaza, according to The Associated Press, citing Gaza health officials.

While Owens said that the Hamas attack was "absolutely horrific," she said the U.S. should stay out of Israeli affairs. She then said that "biggest issue" she has with Israel is the country is "supplying the arms to murder Christians in Armenia."

"For whatever reason, it seems to be the circumstance that when Jewish people die in Israel, it's wall-to-wall coverage, but when Christians die all over the world, nobody talks about it," she said. "Everyone wants to correlate everything to World War II. Everyone wants to talk about Adolf Hitler—and rightfully so, he was a horrific person.

"But nobody wants to talk about [Soviet secret police official] Genrikh Yagoda, right? Nobody wants to talk about the Bolsheviks. Nobody wants to talk about the Christian holocaust," she went on. "I am tired of the media, exhausted of the media not speaking about what is happening to Christians all around the world.

"And it is especially horrific while at the exact same time that it is happening—the slaughter of Christians in Armenia, the arms being supplied by Israel—that the media turns the other way and says, 'Oh, OK, but what about what about what's happening in Israel?'"

South Caucasus rivals Armenia and Azerbaijan have clashed for decades over the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh region, home for more than three decades to the Armenia-aligned yet internationally unrecognized Artsakh Republic, which was dismantled last September amid decisive Azerbaijani victories, aided by both Israel and Turkey.

Speaking with Morgan, Owens said: "You know what I'm asking for? Actual equality. Because it seems like this is like a special category, the 'special relationship' that we have [with Israel]. I'm a Christian first, OK? And so my concerns are going to be with what's happening to Christians all around the world because it is us: we are the number one most persecuted religion in the world.

"And all Christians watching this need to realize the time is now to start speaking up, because we have been silenced about the things that are happening to us for a very long time," said the former Daily Wire personality.

"When there is wall-to-wall coverage of Christians being killed in Armenia, Christians being killed in Nigeria, and the treatment of Christians in America and all across the globe today, then you ask me if I will use my platform and I will use my voice to speak about what's happening in Israel. How about that?"

Owens parted ways with the Daily Wire in March following reports of her opposing views on the Israel-Hamas conflict with the platform's editor emeritus Ben Shapiro.

She has faced criticism from a number of her fellow conservatives after speaking out against Israel amid the war. Roughly a week into the conflict, Owens fought with conservative journalist Megyn Kelly on X, formerly Twitter, wrangling over whether college students protesting for Palestinians should be "blacklisted."

In a November 6 episode of her Candace Owens Podcast titled, "Am I Anti-Semitic?" Owens sat down with Jewish comedian Ami Kozak to discuss the conflict and again drew criticism for asserting during the conversation that there are "Muslim quarters" that dictate where Muslim citizens are allowed to live in Jerusalem.

A clip emerged on social media in November that showed Shapiro, who is Jewish, answering questions in front of a crowd. He described Owens' commentary on the conflict in Gaza as "disgraceful."

"I think that her faux sophistication on these particular issues has been ridiculous," Shapiro added. "Everybody can see the moves that she's making and the things that she's saying, and I find them disreputable."

Owens addressed the comments during an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson that went live on X days later. "I am totally open to people having a difference in opinion," Owens said. "I would hope that amongst colleagues that it would always be civil disagreement. I would never at a private event stand on a table and talk badly about Ben."
