Gusty winds today; Sunnier skies, higher temps return ahead of weekend

The remnants of Hurricane Beryl will bring rain through this morning, followed by breezy and seasonably cool conditions for today.

Today will be cloudy and much cooler with a high near 74 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 p.m. It also will be breezy, with gusts as high as 30 to 40 mph.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 61 degrees.

Skies will be mostly sunny Thursday, which will be much hotter with a high near 84 degrees. Thursday night will be mostly clear with an overnight low around 66 degrees.

Friday will be sunny and even hotter with a high near 88 degrees. Friday night will be mostly clear with an overnight low around 68 degrees.

This weekend will be dry and sunny with highs in the low 90s, according to the NWS.
