Murder, She Wrote (1984)
Nostalgia
Jessica Fletcher is nostalgia for me. If Clint Eastwood wasn't on TV at the moment (you know the 90's). But the premise, the acting, and the execution...it leads to an amazing show.
It's intelligently written and the theme song is such a mood elevator.
Watch if you haven't.
Scrubs (2001)
Greatest Show Ever
I know Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and Game of Thrones tend to top the list of greatest shows of all time. I also love them all. This show is a comedy that outshines dramas at drama. It's a comedy that outshines medical shows in accuracy.
This show really had two stars going into it with Donald Faison and John C McGinley. This cast is the most well put together cast ever. Oh yeah, Sarah Chalke was pretty famous at this point.
Anyways. I just love it.
The Departed (2006)
Just Wow
I have watched this movie several times. It is easily one of my favorites, but I haven't taken the time to write a quick review.
DiCaprio gives a riveting performance as always and forces others to truly step up there game. Mark wahlberg does fantastic alongside Leo and Martin Sheen. Wahlberg's character starts off as a caricature but develops into a mutifaceted man. He shows his passion, integrity, and ambition.
The plot moves smoothly and very understandably. The pace is very well tempered. There is no reason to slow down or speed up as the story requires multiple POVs to be told.
Enjoy!
Sneaky Pete (2015)
Amazon Shwoing Cable Up
Amazon and Hulu tend to produce a massive amount of originals that no one sees it cares about. That's isnt the case here. Sneaky Pete pulls you in and tells a compelling story. "Pete" is the person inside of most of us. We all have a darkness that we are trying to move on from, yet we use that darkness to further our cause.
Buying into characters being real is important to me, and this is where Sneaky Pete excels. You can believe that these people exist. People with struggles caught up in crap they don't want to be in. This is a show for you if you enjoy character development and layered characters.
Waiting... (2005)
An unpolished gem.
This movie is exactly what you're looking for when you want to laugh and not have to get too invested into a storyline. The characters are fully fleshed out by the time the movie starts and there really is only one character's development to focus on. The vulgarity is surprisingly refreshing in this politically correct world. Ryan Reynolds plays his part well as does most of the cast. Sure there are some acting issues with some of the cast, but it's a decent production. The humor isn't deep but it is still funny. Would love to see a sequel that could live up to this, but the second movie wasn't very good.
