With the recent price hikes and restructuring, there have been a lot of discussions around Xbox Game Pass. According to Mat Piscatella, a gaming data analyst, the success of games on these platforms shows their inherent appeal.
He suggests that if a game fails to sell well as part of a subscription service, it likely wouldn’t have performed better through traditional sales channels. This is part of the debate on the impact of subscription models on game sales and their sustainability.

Piscatella states that inclusion in a subscription service can boost a game’s visibility and sales through increased exposure and viral marketing. Essentially, the fate of a game on a subscription service hinges on its quality and reception, rather than the platform itself.

Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz are in their third year of relationship and they are happily engaged. Tatum only has great things to say about Kravitz, who is the daughter of singer-songwriter Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet. He appears to be on cloud nine with his current relationship status despite the exhausting court battle with his ex-wife Jenna Dewan.

Gotham City is where the notorious yet enchanting underbelly thrives, not just from the diverse cast of supervillains but also from the artful orchestration of ‘regular’ criminals. Among them stands a figure emblematic of the city’s organized crime: Carmine Falcone. Portrayed in Matt Reeves’ The Batman by John Turturro, this character added a layer of gritty realism to the beloved franchise.
But did you know that behind Turturro’s newfound villainous persona lay a childhood admiration not for the Caped Crusader but for the swashbuckling Zorro?

His journey—from being fascinated by Zorro to playing a crucial part in Gotham’s dark plot & even penning a moving “letter” to Steven Spielberg asking him to don the mask of Zorro himself—speaks volumes about his love for these legendary figures.

While the dramatic movements of projects at Warner Bros. seemed to have calmed down and despite some big decisions being made on gambles like Kevin Costner’s Horizon series, the studio is still working on some re-arrangement of their properties. It was reported earlier that upcoming series that were meant to be exclusive to the Max streaming app are now becoming HBO originals. Previously, all shows that were based on Warner Bros. IP fell under the Max umbrella, which felt like the most obvious way to separate the label from HBO. “We felt like we had to delineate between an HBO show and a Max show,” HBO and Max content CEO Casey Bloys said. “The idea of using Warner Bros. IP as a delineation for Max felt right. At least that gives you a clear lane. But as we started producing those shows, we were using the same methods, the same kind of thinking,...

Zoë Kravitz has her first acting gig since “The Batman” lined up. Deadline reports that the actress (and director; Kravitz’s feature debut “Blink Twice“ hits theaters on August 23) will star alongside Austin Butler in Darren Aronofsky‘s upcoming crime thriller “Caught Stealing.” No word on who Kravitz will play yet, but it’s a splashy role to mark her onscreen return (and shows that the 2022 two-fer of “The Batman” and “Kimi” isn’t a flash in the pan for her).

More of Max’s in-the-works tentpole TV projects are getting a bit of a rebrand behind the scenes — including The Batman spinoff The Penguin and Dune prequel series Dune: Prophecy.
The two aforementioned projects will join the previously announced Harry Potter series, It prequel Welcome to Derry and newly ordered Green Lantern series Lanterns — all initially developed as Max exclusives — as rebranded HBO originals moving forward, according to our sister site Variety.

We had learned last month that several Max Original shows are being rebranded as HBO Originals by Warner Bros. Discovery, with shows including “Welcome to Derry” now confirmed to air on HBO in addition to streaming on Max. “We felt like we had to delineate between an HBO show and a Max show,” HBO/Max’s Casey Bloys had explained earlier this summer.
Deadline brings us an update on the shift this morning, officially confirming that both “The Penguin” and “Dune: Prophecy” will also be rebranded as HBO Originals. And like “Welcome to Derry,” this means they’ll be airing on HBO in addition to streaming on Max.
Deadline explains, “It is part of a strategy to rebrand its highest profile titles into HBO Originals, giving them a linear airing on the premium cable network as well as a streaming bow.”

When Variety broke the news last month that HBO and Max content CEO Casey Bloys had changed the delineation between what an “HBO show” and a “Max show” is, there was an asterisk attached. Max’s big-budget, tentpole Warner Bros. IP projects like the “Harry Potter” TV show, the “It” prequel series “Welcome to Derry” and the Green Lantern adaptation “Lanterns” — were moving to under the HBO umbrella, but those coming before 2025 would not.
Here was the rub, much to Bloys’ chagrin: The two shows premiering this fall that had inspired Bloys to change his tune, “The Penguin” and “Dune: Prophecy,” couldn’t contractually make the switch. The shows had already been sold to international outlets as Max Originals, and those kinds of complicated deals are hard to unwind and revise.

When news first trickled in about James Gunn helming a new Superman film, the DC fandom was ubiquitously against it. It didn’t help that Henry Cavill – for whom they’d been waiting to once again don the fabled superhero gear for years now – was abruptly sundered from the project. So, one can only imagine the wrath of the nerds and devotees.

The Batman star Zoë Kravitz will join Austin Butler in Aronofsky’s 90s-set New York thriller, Caught Stealing.
Zoë Kravitz is reportedly in talks to star opposite Austin Butler in Darren Aronofsky’s next project, Caught Stealing. Butler’s involvement in the project was announced back in March, just as Butler was riding high off the back of a lauded villainous turn in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. We haven’t heard much in the way of news since regarding the film, which is still in pre-production.
It looks like Aronofsky may have found his other lead for the film, however, with Kravitz is in advanced talks to join the production according to The Hollywood Reporter. The actor is in the midst of an impressive run herself, having made a splash as Selina Kyle in 2022’s The Batman before turning her attention to directing in the last couple of years.

Zoë Kravitz is in talks to join Austin Butler in Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The film is based on the book of the same name by Charlie Huston, who also wrote the script. The story, per the logline, follows Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, who’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of 1990s New York City.
Aronofsky’s Protozoa Pictures, which is based in New York, is producing the film, alongside his partner Ari Handel. Together, they’ve worked on the director’s π, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler, Black Swan, Noah, Mother! and The Whale; as well as Tobias Lindholm’s The Good Nurse, Pablo Larraín’s Jackie, Lance Oppenheim’s Some Kind of Heaven, Josef Kubota Wladyka’s Catch the Fair One and Alex Pritz’s documentary The Territory.

Exclusive: Paramount Pictures has greenlit the Johannes Roberts horror film Primate, with Oscar winner Troy Kotsur (Coda) set to lead the cast. Roberts will direct the Walter Hamada-produced feature, which Roberts co-wrote with Ernest Riera.
Plot details are being kept under wraps.
The project falls under Hamada’s exclusive first-look deal with Paramount which began January 1, 2023, making him “the architect of Paramount’s mainstream horror genre pod, with the mission to release several low- to mid-budget films per year across theatrical and streaming.”

We had learned last month that Andrzej Żuławski’s 1981 psychological horror movie Possession is getting a remake from Smile writer/director Parker Finn, with Robert Pattinson attached to produce the fresh take. The project had caused a bidding war among major studios including A24, Netflix, Paramount, Sony, and Warner Bros., and it sounds like Paramount has landed the hot package.
According to a brand new report this week from The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures is now in final talks to acquire the Possession remake package.
Parker Finn is writing, directing and producing, with Pattinson also producing. THR notes, “[Pattinson’s] acting involvement will be clarified down the road as the script and schedules develop.”
THR reminds, “Set in West Berlin, the original Possession starred Sam Neill as a spy who returns home from the field to his wife (Isabella Adjani) and son. All is not quiet on the marital front, as the...

In Hollywood’s ever-changing scene, only a few stars manage to maintain their box-office success. Nicolas Cage is one such success story, having made a comeback after a lackluster career in the 1990s. Setting a new feat on screen, the actor will put on the Spidey suit for the next Spider-Man Noir series, increasing audience excitement.

The Noir series would be Cage’s debut television show, presenting a slightly older Spider-Man to the viewers. Furthermore, it is expected to explore several realities and interpretations of the character, potentially paving the way for future advancements in the Spider-Man universe.

DC Studios and Max have confirmed that The Penguin will premiere on the streaming platform this September and we finally have what may be a specific date for the show's debut.
Buried in a recent Prime Video press release for the Batman: Caped Crusader trailer launch (watch it here if you missed it) is the news that, "On the TV side, [6th & Idaho] produced the Batman spinoff series, The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell."
"The eight-episode limited series continues The Batman epic crime saga created by Reeves and will be released by Max on September 19."
Over the weekend, you might have noticed September 8 being mentioned as The Penguin's likely premiere date. While Max has yet to confirm this September 19 release, September 8 was pulled from a recent piece by The Hollywood Reporter and the trade quickly removed it upon realising it was incorrect.

DC's Arkham Asylum TV Series Scrapped at Max - Main Image
The planned Arkham Asylum TV series has been scrapped at Max after years of being stuck in development.
Warner Bros., Max, and DC have been developing a TV series set in the infamous Gotham City hospital that was originally intended as a spinoff series of The Batman before James Gunn came on board and decided to turn it into a Dcu project.
However, it underwent several changes behind the scenes as different showrunners were initially attached to the project before Antonio Campos joined and spearheaded the latest iteration.

The Arkham Asylum TV show is no longer moving forward at Max, we hear. More on the story below.
Image: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Credit: Warner Bros. Games
Word has reached the Film Stories news desk that Max’s Arkham Asylum TV show is no longer happening at DC Studios.
The project has been in the works for several years and many showrunners, including Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter, have tried to crack it, but it seems that we’ve reached the end of the road, at least for this adaptation.
The show was originally supposed to take place within Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe and focus on the Gotham Police Department, but the idea was abandoned in favour of a plot that focused on the Arkham Asylum, a hospital for the criminally insane. Reeves was attached as an executive producer for the show, too.

When it comes to undisputed cinematic classics, there are several films that have cemented their standing amid the greatest ever made. "Citizen Kane," "The Godfather," "Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia." What's that? You've never heard of "Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia?" I'm not sure what you philistines have been watching but I'll have you know this short film currently holds a prestigious 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Yes, the website that has made a business out of slapping percentage scores on art has decreed that "Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia" is one of a handful of films worthy of the elusive "perfect" score. That means it sits alongside James Cameron's seminal 1984 effort "The Terminator" and Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 masterpiece "Stalker," both of which also hold 100% ratings and coincidentally are the only two perfect sci-fi movies ever made according to Rt (along with two of the "Toy Story" movies).
Why is any of this important?...

Yesterday evening, the news broke that DC Studios is no longer moving forward with a Max TV series set in Arkham Asylum. The project had a complicated journey, going through multiple showrunners and even switching universes.
Original plans called for it to serve as a spin-off to The Batman, only for James Gunn to later casually mention that the Matt Reeves-produced series was to be set in the Dcu instead.
That turned it into a tie-in to The Brave and the Bold, an unexpected move that left fans concerned that DC Studios was pivoting away from plans to expand Reeves' Bat-Verse with a slate of spin-offs.
Now, Arkham Asylum showrunner Joe Otterson has broken his silence on the cancellation.
Over the past 24 hours, there's been speculation about the trades getting it wrong and the scrapped show is the Bat-Verse-set series Gunn confirmed was no longer in the works months ago.

James Cameron’s Terminator franchise had a very tragic decline. The film series started with a bang, with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1984 film, and followed up with a sequel, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which was just as good. However, it was the continuation after this point that caused the slow death of the series and its unique concept. With every new film that was coming out, fans were forced to take a front seat to the destruction of their beloved.
However, it would seem that in the years since then, a saving grace has come to the rescue of the franchise. One that knows what the fans want, knows how to tell a good story, and wants to protect Cameron’s original vision for the series.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman was a major success, but while it was always intended to exist in a separate continuity from the main Dceu, James Gunn’s takeover and the establishment of the new Dcu seem to have significantly influenced The Batman series, though this has not been officially confirmed.
Reeves is still developing his trilogy for Warner Bros., but Gunn is also planning his own Batman films as part of the Dcu. How these two universes will coexist remains to be seen, especially given the success of Reeves’ film. Additionally, the film had several planned television spin-offs.
The Penguin mini-series is progressing, but the originally planned Gcpd-based show was canceled and reportedly merged into the proposed Arkham Asylum series. Unfortunately for fans, it has now been officially confirmed that the Arkham Asylum series is not moving forward on Max and is unlikely to ever be made.

Per Variety, the Arkham Asylum TV series has been scrapped. The series, which was in development for Max, had been in the works for a number of years, with a handful of creatives coming and going.
When the series was announced four years ago, it initially didn’t focus on Arkham Asylum. Instead, it was supposed to revolve around the Gotham City Police Department. Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire) was set to write and executive produce the spin-off of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, but Winter left the series due to creative differences. Joe Barton (The Lazarus Project) then boarded the series, only to leave as well when the focus shifted to Arkham Asylum. The studio then tapped Antonio Campos (The Staircase) to take over, but it seems that the series just wasn’t meant to be. A series set inside the prison Arkham Asylum within Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” universe will no longer move forward for Max, an individual with knowledge of the decision told IndieWire.
Antonio Campos, the director known for “Christine,” “The Devil All the Time,” and the Max series “The Staircase,” was previously tapped to be showrunner and director of the Arkham Asylum series. However, Campos is no longer involved, and his version of the series will not come to pass. The individual says it’s possible a different Arkham Asylum series could still happen down the road, including one set within the universe established by Reeves’ film. But Campos’ version is dead.
A rep for Max had no comment.

Variety has confirmed that the previously announced Arkham Asylum TV series is no longer moving forward at Max. It was back in 2022 when we first learned Antonio Campos (The Staircase) had been tapped to serve as The Batman spin-off's writer and showrunner.
This iteration of the show has been scrapped, though it's supposedly possible that a new project set in the infamous Gotham City location could happen down the line. We're not banking on it, unfortunately.
In many ways, this news doesn't come as a surprise. When the show was announced, it had a series commitment but was being developed by Terrence Winter (Boardwalk Empire) and set inside the Gotham City Police Department. He later walked away due to creative differences.
Giri/Haji creator Joe Barton was next to take a crack at the untitled series - which many fans had already unfavourably compared to Fox's Gotham - only to walk...

The gates to Arkham Asylum are closing — for now. A DC show for Max centering on the hospital populated by Batman villains is no longer moving forward, at least in its current iteration, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The latest version of the show had The Staircase‘s Antonio Campos set as showrunner and The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves as executive producer. While that take is no longer in the works, it’s possible a different version could emerge down the road.
The proposed series went through years of development and changed direction several times. Originally, the show was set in the world of the Reeves-directed The Batman movie and focused on the Gotham Police Department, taking place a year before the movie.
Reeves teamed with Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter for a show announced in July 2020, but Winter departed several months later, with Joe Barton set as the new showrunner in January 2021.

The planned Arkham Asylum TV series is no longer moving forward at Max, Variety has learned.
As Variety exclusively reported in October 2022, Antonio Campos had come onboard to serve as writer and showrunner of the series, which was originally meant to be set within the world of Matt Reeves’ “The Batman.” But according to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Campos’ version will not proceed. It is still possible, though, that a new project set within the infamous Gotham City asylum could be developed in the future, the individual noted.
Thus ends (at least for now) the show’s complicated path to the screen. It was originally announced in July 2020 with a series commitment, but at that time it was meant to focus on the inner workings of the Gotham Pd as featured in “The Batman.” Terrence Winter was attached to write and executive produce, but he left the...

Spoiler Alert! The article contains spoilers for The Boys.
Since 2019, Eric Kripke’s The Boys have been taking jabs at Marvel and DC. The show has featured a sociopath, psychotic version of Superman in Antony Starr’s Homelander, and an unhinged version of Captain America with Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, who was America’s Son.

However, the R-rated show is not stopping anytime soon because, in the 5th episode of Season 4, titled Beware the Jabberwock, My Son, Kripke takes a jab at Robert Pattinson’s The Batman.
During the Vought Expo scene, where the Supes were talking about their upcoming film and TV Series, Derek Wilson’s Tek Knight came on the stage, where he decided to satirize DC by targetting Batman and using Nirvana as the point of reference to ridicule the character.

The Batman was released in 2022 to positive reviews and a $772 million box office haul, making it one of the most successful DC movies in recent memory.
Warner Bros. wasted no time in green-lighting a sequel, while a small screen spin-off - The Penguin - will premiere on Max this September. However, like The Batman, that will take place in Matt Reeves' standalone "Bat-Verse" instead of the Dceu or DC Studios' Dcu.
That means James Gunn will have to cast a new Caped Crusader for The Brave and the Bold, a prospect which hasn't exactly thrilled a lot of fans. The perfect solution would be to add Robert Pattinson's Batman to the Dcu, but it's hard to imagine Reeves or the actor being keen on the idea.

Spoilers for "The Boys" to follow.
"The Boys" season 4 is making the best use of its spin-off series "Gen V." The season is not only incorporating the supe-killing virus developed during "Gen V" season 1, but now some familiar faces are joining the party. Among them is the supe detective Robert Vernon/Tek Knight (Derek Wilson).
Introduced in "Gen V" episode 4, "The Whole Truth," Tek Knight debuted on "The Boys" itself in season 4, episode 5, "Beware The Jabberwock, My Son." The sixth and most recent episode, "Dirty Business," brings him back into focus as Hughie (Jack Quaid) goes undercover in Tek Knight's home: a stately manor.
"Gen V" already used Tek Knight as a Batman parody. On that show, his powers were established to be heightened senses that make him as observant as Sherlock Holmes or Adrian Monk. Unlike Batman, however, Tek Knight does have superpowers, but his are invisible ones. By...

Robert Pattinson’s The Batman had some of the best fight scenes that could rival Ben Affleck’s Batman vs Superman. The film had only a few fight scenes that were not very lengthy, but they were executed brilliantly with the help of amazing fight choreography and camera work. Pattinson’s stunt combinations were quick, had great technique, and were executed in a pretty realistic manner.
