David Duchovny says he feels like he “discovered” Angelina Jolie, his Playing God co-star.
The X-Files alum recently revealed in a new interview that he was part of the casting for the 1997 film directed by Andy Wilson.
“I feel like I discovered Angelina Jolie,” Duchovny said on SiriusXM’s Radio Andy when asked what he thought about his former co-stars.
Host Andy Cohen asked Duchovny to explain, with the actor saying, “Yeah, cause I was casting, I was part of the casting. I didn’t discover her, but… she came in, and I just knew she was a movie star, and I told everybody [that] we’ve gotta cast her.”
The Touchstone Pictures film written by Mark Haskell Smith revolved around “a disgraced surgeon [who] leaves his former life and reinvents himself as a gunshot doctor in the criminal underworld.” According to IMDb, the film’s casting directors were Elaine J. Huzzar and Johanna Ray.

Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington were two of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood during the turn of the century, and it might be a puzzle for many fans how both of them landed on a mid-budget crime thriller movie. Director Phillip Noyce specifically picked Jolie and Washington for 1999’s The Bone Collector, but they weren’t the first choices.

Apparently, veteran actor Al Pacino was tapped to play Lincoln Rhyme, the male lead character, but he decided it would be a much better choice to star in Michael Mann’s The Insider. This incident paved the way for Washington to land the role.

Back in 1991, the world saw The Silence of the Lambs that followed an FBI trainee who seeks advice from an imprisoned cannibalistic maniac in an attempt to catch another serial killer. The glowing success of this thriller brought us a number of its pale copies.
These include a 1997 controversial movie that seemingly had it all to become a new hit, but eventually failed to do it. However, nowadays it is getting more viewership, as it has just entered Netflix’s global top all of a sudden, taking the sixth place in it.
The plot of this psychological thriller revolves around Alex, a forensic psychologist whose niece goes missing one day. After consulting with his fellow detectives, he realizes that she could have fallen victim to an insane killer known as Casanova.
The maniac is notorious for kidnapping women and forcing them to submit to his demands, but one of his victims,...

If there was a decade that truly helped to shape the future of the crime thriller genre, it was undoubtedly the 1990s. The era churned out numerous movies that have become the benchmark for how to craft a movie about the hunt for a serial killer, or flashing femme fatales with a penchant for murder. Movies such as The Silence of the Lambs, Misery, Se7en and Basic Instinct set a benchmark for not only quality in the crime flick, but also by delivering iconic sequences that are synonymous within the genre. Lambs had Anthony Hopkins’ wonderful Chianti sipping performance, Misery gleefully smashed ankles, Se7en had the tragic head in a box scene, while Basic Instinct allowed Sharon Stone to show more than just her acting ability. The point is, by the time the movie we’re focusing on in this episode was released in 1999, audiences had preconceived expectations, thanks...

Following the success of Jonathan Demme's "The Silence of the Lambs" in 1991, Hollywood released an eight-year-long tidal wave of serial killer thrillers, each one pulpier than the last. This was the era of "Seven," "Copycat," "Along Came a Spider," "Jennifer 8," "See No Evil," "Eye of the Beholder," "Sliver," "Knight Moves," and any number of others. Right at the end of the decade came Phillip Noyce's 1999 thriller "The Bone Collector," based on the airport novel by Jeffery Deaver. Deaver's original novel was the first of the long-running Lincoln Rhyme series, a series that saw its 16th installment published in 2023. Lincoln Rhyme, thanks to a spinal accident, could not move his body below his neck, and fought crime from his bed, deducting details, looking at pictures, and relying on his team.
In the film adaptation, Denzel Washington played Lincoln Rhyme and Angelina Jolie played his plucky crime fighting partner Amelia Donaghy.

50 Cent became as successful of a producer as he was a rapper thanks to creating the Power universe. But initially, being a producer proved to be a bit less lucrative than his other business endeavors.

Power has become the Starz network’s biggest program, and has spawned a successful franchise. Since the conclusion of the original, the series has since spun-off into several other popular movies, expanding its lore. 50 Cent originated the idea after his connections got him in a room with television producer Courtney Kemp.

Angelina Jolie Once Opened Up About Her Best On-Screen Love Scene & It’s Not Brad Pitt (Picture Credit: Facebook)
Angelina Jolie has played many sensual characters on screen and did several intimate scenes, but if she had to single out one lovemaking scene, then as per her, it wasn’t with her ex-husband Brad Pitt or any former lover. Jolie once, in an interview, revealed the best on-screen s*x she had, and you will be surprised to know about it. The following post contains spoilers for "Salt."
The 2010 film "Salt" stars Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent who is accused of being a Russian spy. The movie, directed by Phillip Noyce, reveals that she is one, but there is far more to it than simply that. She's been working as a double agent, set up to spy for Russia and waiting to be activated, but things have happened since she was put as a child into a secret Russian program. She's met a man (August Diehl), fallen in love, and gotten married. She's built herself a life. Oh, and then there was the reason she was made a Russian sleeper agent in the first place.
The ending reveals that she wasn't the only Russian child spy and that someone she never suspected is one as well. While the first thing you remember about "Salt" is likely the fuss...

1999, Y2K was pending, some folks were freaking out about it while most teens couldn’t be bothered. Things that stressed our parents didn’t worry us one bit and things we stressed about they found silly. Escape was found, as before and as still is, in horror movies. That year saw a few big releases, some great fun ones like eXistenZ, Deep Blue Sea, and Lake Placid, some that were meant to be great like Virus, The Haunting and The Astronaut’s Wife, and a whole lot of middle of the road titles like The Bone Collector, Resurrection, and From Dusk Till Dawn 2. The world was covered in the ooey, gooey goodness of horror and its special effects.

The The Watcher episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
The late 1990s and early 2000s had an interesting subgenre of films come forward and be popular, a sort of serial killers versus cops thing that had a few entries including Copycat, The Bone Collector, Kiss the Girls, Taking Lives, and The Watcher (watch it Here). There was something about them that was on the edge of horror, but not so far into the genre that general audiences would skip out. They were often marketed as thrillers to avoid the word horror as if it were a bad, evil word. Most of them starred big names and familiar faces and had a variety of locations. “Trust no one.” That bit of advice is the cornerstone of every paranoid thriller, whether it’s The X-Files, 70s classics like Three Days of the Condor, or recent entries such as Get Out.
As a show about shape-shifting aliens, Secret Invasion should be able to excel at “trust no one” better than any of its predecessors. Nearly anyone can be a Skrull, even Tony Stark’s best friend Rhodey, a mainstay of the MCU since its beginning (albeit played by different actors).
And yet, four episodes in, Secret Invasion’s biggest mystery is about the nature of the show itself. Is this a thriller about secret agent Nick Fury uncovering a vast conspiracy? Is this a commentary about the insiders and outsiders in the American experiment? Is this a show about spies battling aliens?

Angelina Jolie had the opportunity to star alongside the likes of Cameron Diaz in 2000’s Charlie’s Angels. But she rejected it for another project, even though she was told the film would boost her career.

Jolie was already on the rise when Charlie’s Angels was in development. Movies like The Bone Collector and Girl,Interrupted were increasing her star-power. Winning an Oscar would only further establish Jolie as an A-Lister. She had the opportunity to add another commercial project to her name with Charlie’s Angels.
The feature already had a star-studded roster that included Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. Given Jolie’s own status at the time, she might have fit right in with the cast. The studio behind Charlie’s Angels believed so too, and tried to recruit the actor.

Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon), Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Escape Plan), Brian Van Holt (Joe vs. Carole), and Nora Zehetner (The Right Stuff) star in the serial killer thriller Boneyard, which is currently filming in Las Vegas. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Asif Akbar (The Commando) is directing the film and crafted the screenplay with Hank Byrd, Vincent E. McDaniel, and Koji Steven Sakai.
Said to be inspired by true events, Boneyard sees Gibson taking on the role of an FBI special agent who, along with the Albuquerque police department, is hunting for a serial killer nicknamed The Bone Collector. The chief of police and one of his officers, however, have a contrary view of the manhunt, believing someone in their own department may be the killer.

Angelina Jolie once added the film The Bone Collector to her list of notable projects. The 1999 feature was a cop thriller that she co-starred along with Denzel Washington. At the time, Bone Collector also offered a unique experience that no other movie offered up to that point.

The Bone Collector was a 1999 film where Jolie played a cop that was on the hunt for a serial killer. Playing her character in the dark thriller was easier in some ways, but harder in others. The mental and emotional state of Jolie’s fictional counterpart began to take its toll on the Oscar-winner.

Tackling topical issues is nothing new for this gory franchise, and this film’s perspective on “good” cops plays very 2019
Let’s give credit where credit is due: Darren Lynn Bousman’s “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” avoids the obvious deathtrap of wallowing in nostalgia for the blockbuster “Saw” franchise, which produced seven hit movies in its first seven years but only one other sequel in the last decade.
Instead, “Spiral” wallows in nostalgia for the crime thrillers of the 1990s, stuffing itself to the gills with distracting references to “Pulp Fiction” and constantly evoking not-altogether-unpleasant memories of films like “Se7en,” “Copycat” and “The Bone Collector.”
Whereas the previous “Saw” films swapped perspectives constantly between multiple timelines, protagonists and villains, in “Spiral” the focus stays squarely on its stalwart protagonist, Det. Ezekiel Banks, played by Chris Rock. He’s hunting for a mysterious copycat of the original Jigsaw killer,...

A slow-burn serial killer saga that leans into genre clichés like they haven’t been bludgeoned to death yet, John Lee Hancock’s “The Little Things” isn’t just set in 1990, it was also written in 1990. And — an unambiguous positive at a time when most straight-to-streaming fare is so cheap and glossy that it makes 20th century shlock like “Kiss the Girls” and “The Bone Collector” feel like Visconti movies by comparison.
But really it’s “Se7en” that comes to feel like the most obvious antecedent of all, even if that epochal hit came out a few years after Hancock first hatched the idea for this one. Here is another vivid, patient, character-driven psychological thriller that sees its A-list cast as a license to subvert audience expectations, prioritize the detectives over the murderer they’re trying to catch, and offer a gruesomely dark vision of the world that focuses its...

Is anyone else getting the same vibes that were put off by another Denzel Washington movie, The Bone Collector? Granted, Denzel was bed-bound for a lot of that movie since his character had limited use of a couple of parts of his body after a horrendous accident on the job, but the meticulous nature of the movie is still felt in The Little Things. A Kern County sheriff and a Los Angeles detective that clash over a case apparently have to come to grips with the idea that they’re both trying to nail the suspect, who is being played by

The first question from TV journalists at today’s TCA panel on NBC’s new series, Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, was, well, what’s up with that title?
The series, which made its debut Friday, is based on Jeffrey Deaver’s Bone Collector book series. The first book in that series was also the basis of the 1999 feature film The Bone Collector starring Denzel Washington as quadriplegic Detective Lincoln Rhymes.
The new TV series was first announced as Lincoln, then acquired the lengthy new title, which does not exactly lend itself to headlines and social media. However, the show’s executive producers pointed out that people tended to confuse the name first with the President, second with the car. In addition, Ep Barry O’Brien said the new title leaves the door open to expand the story across multiple platforms. And, “We found that a more dynamic, fuller...

“Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector” is a very long title for NBC’s new crime series, but there’s a reason the show’s producers made that choice, which they explained Saturday at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena.
Based on the 1997 novel “The Bone Collector” by Jeffery Deaver, the series follows quadriplegic forensic criminalist Lincoln Rhyme (Russell Hornsby) as he hunts down a gruesome serial killer. The book series has 13 sequels that follow the first novel.
“‘The Bone Collector’ is the title of only the first book, and we wanted to open it up to the option to potentially use other killers or references to subsequent episodes,” executive producer Rachel Kaplan said.

Lincoln Rhyme was a kickass criminal profiler before one of the bad guys he was tracking decided to take him out. He survived, but the (justifiably) angry former cop can’t use his legs, and he’s determined never to be involved with serial killers again… until the one who incapacitated him resurfaces.
And that’s where things stand at the start of Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector, which premiered Friday on NBC and stars Grimm‘s Russell Hornsby as the titular sleuth. In a moment, we’ll want to know what you thought of the thriller based on Jeffrey Deaver’s novel,...

Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector episode 1
NBC's Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector is a standard issue police procedural with a twist: the lead detective is brilliant and broken, but only physically. His keen sense of sleuthing and desire for revenge keep his spirit high in spite of his awkward social skills. Lincoln Rhymes was rendered quadriplegic trying to save a victim in the elaborate murder spree of a serial killer who calls himself The Bone Collector. Rhyme gets coaxed out of retirement when NYPD officer Amelia Sachs stumbles across an underground crime scene very reminiscent of the original, uncaught killer, which she keeps safe, uncorrupted and ready for investigation.

Some seemingly ridiculous TV show titles are misleading. Others, like “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector,” are not.
The new NBC drama (based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel) stars Lincoln Rhyme (Russell Hornsby) is a cocky detective who’s made a name for himself by scouring crime scenes like no one else after modeling himself after (who else?) Sherlock Holmes. Accordingly, his Moriarty is “The Bone Collector,” a wry and ruthless murderer who disappeared into the ether after his last interaction with Rhyme a few years ago, which left the detective in a full body paralysis. Now, Rhyme finds himself back on the case after restless cop Amelia (Arielle Kebbel) stumbles upon a murder seemingly carried out by the Bone Collector. As might be expected of this odd couple pairing, he’s brilliant and revered, while she’s more talented than many will give her credit for. Both have...

NBC has set its midseason premiere dates, including that of the highly anticipated adaptation of Jeffrey Deaver’s bestselling crime novel “The Bone Collector.”

It looks like one reboot of a popular novel/movie series is not enough for NBC.
Deadline is reporting that the Peacock network is developing a prequel series of The Da Vinci Code and that it will feature a young Robert Langdon.
While the show is being billed as a prequel, it will actually be based on the novel The Lost Symbol, the third in Dan Brown's Robert Langdon books.
For some reason, the popular Tom Hanks fronted movie series skipped the third book entirely, opting to end the movie franchise with Inferno.

It was a little stressful and down to the wire as all of Sony Pictures TV’s new series pickups and some of its renewals did not close until the weekend before the upfronts, but the indie studio ultimately saw four of its six pilots picked up, drama For Life and comedy United We Fall at ABC and drama Lincoln and comedy Indebted at NBC. Excluding straight-to-series orders, that is the studio’s strongest conversion ratio in almost a decade.
Additionally, Sony TV saw all of its broadcast scripted series get renewed; its broadcast tally, including scripted and unscripted series, is 11 series on ABC, NBC and CBS.
That is with the studio, which last year did not get a new broadcast series but landed a series order for its NBC pilot La’s Finest at Spectrum, scaling back on broadcast development, developing about 50% fewer scripts with a targeted approach.

NBC is unveiling a year-round schedule next season that keeps several of its signature series, including “Will & Grace,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and freshman drama hit “Manifest,” on the bench until midseason.
The plan is stability in the fall, as Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays remain unchanged, and Thursdays continue to front a four-comedy lineup.
Only one new drama, the Jimmy Smits legal entry “Bluff City Law,” and two new comedies (“Perfect Harmony” and “Sunnyside”) will launch in the fall, as NBC saves most of its new premieres for winter and spring.
In unveiling their new schedule to reporters during a Sunday morning conference call, NBC Entertainment co-chairmen George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy said they “came into this season from the vantage point of extreme stability, but without any complacency.”
The execs singled out comedy as a key part of NBC’s strategy — calling it the “heart of the NBC brand.

NBC has wrapped up its new series orders, picking up single-camera choir comedy Perfect Harmony, starring and executive produced by Bradley Whitford, from 20th Century Fox TV; multi-camera multi-generational family comedy Indebted (fka Uninsured), co-starring Fran Drescher, from Sony TV; and drama Lincoln, headlined by Russell Hornsby, also from Sony TV. Lincoln, based on the Bone Collector novel, will be a co-production with Universal TV.
The late pickup for Perfect Harmony, Indebted and Lincoln does not necessarily reflect their standings in the NBC pilots pecking order as all had enjoyed internal support. But the projects comes from outside studios, leading to the inevitable last-minute tussle with the network over digital rights (comedies) and ownership/distribution (dramas).
Both 20th TV and Sony TV already have popular drama series on NBC, This Is Us, which is eying a multi-season renewal, and The Blacklist, already renewed for next season.

Israeli black comedy Stockholm is being adapted for the U.S. by The Brave producer Keshet Studios.
The international sales division of the Israeli firm previously took worldwide distribution rights to the four-part series, which was produced by Artza Productions, and now its La-based scripted division, which is run by Peter Traugott, is developing a local remake.
Based on the novel by Noa Yedlin, it follows four friends who attempt to help their friend win the Nobel Prize in Economics even after he is found dead. They try to keep him “alive” for five days to help him win the prize but their quest to keep Avishai’s death a secret quickly turns into an overwhelmingly complicated challenge.
For this lively group of 70-somethings, what begins as a tribute to a friend – one seemingly borne purely out of loyalty – is the start of a revealing journey into their lives and their regrets,...
