It’s no secret that most Married at First Sight relationships ultimately end in divorce. Most couples who meet and marry on the Lifetime reality show eventually go their separate ways. Sometimes, people just don’t click, despite their best efforts to make things work. In other cases, one partner torpedoes the marriage with their controlling behavior, gaslighting, or rigid demands. And sometimes, the particular combination of two people is a disaster waiting to happen. That’s what happened with these five Married at First Sight couples, who are among the most toxic to appear on the show.

Photo: ‘The Sea Beast’ The Rise of An Artist Chris Williams is a filmmaker who got his start in the industry working at Disney, mainly as a storyboard artist. 2008 was a big year for him though, as not only did he co-write and co-direct the feature film ‘Bolt’, but the animated short he helmed, ‘Glago’s Guest’, saw release at the Annecy International Film Festival, a short that got him the position as co-director on ‘Bolt’ in the first place. A few years later, he would go on to co-direct another Disney film, ‘Big Hero 6’. After two solid decades of working with Disney, Chris left the company and turned to Netflix, where he would make his solo directorial debut with a film based on his own screenplay. A number of years later, and that film has finally arrived on the platform. But is that film any good? Did years...

1.66 million SVoD services were cancelled between April and June.
New research has found that 488,000 households in the UK left the streaming market between April and June 2022.
The data, collected by Kantar, revealed that the number of households subscribing to at least one streaming service has fallen to 16.42 million, representing 56 of all households. This number is down from the first quarter of 2022 which stood at 58.
Overall, 1.66 million SVoD services were cancelled, up 1.21 million from the same time last year.
Cancelled users cited saving money as their number one reason for leaving streamers as inflation in the UK continues to grow and the cost of living rises.

A new month has arrived, which means a fresh batch of movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix. Most monumentally, the beginning of the month saw the conclusion of “Stranger Things 4,” which began back in May but is just now finishing up. (There’ll be one more season before the series winds down.) Other new Netflix original series this month include the horror-comedy “Boo, Bitch,” the fourth season of “Virgin River” and the fifth season of all-ages animated spin-off “Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous” (which we’ve heard has some surprising connections to this summer’s blockbuster “Jurassic World: Dominion”).
On the Netflix original films side of things, the biggest new release is undoubtedly “The Gray Man.” A nonstop action extravaganza from Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing duo behind “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgmane,” it stars Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling as dueling spies. There’s also a new...

As a sensory piece of wide-screen animation that’s as beautiful as it is unexpected, “The Sea Beast” is a gorgeous escape. But it’s not entirely unexpected, as the film is also the solo feature debut for animator Chris Williams, known for his work on “Frozen” and John Musker‘s splashy, Oscar-nominated “Moana,” a film with similar nautical pleasures.
“The Sea Beast” takes place on the azure plains of a magical world where beasts intermingle with humans and oceans sway with music.

Moana is the story of a young Polynesian heir ineffably drawn to the one thing that her community opposes: venturing out into the ocean, like the little mermaid was so drawn to land, like a monster to Boo, and like an ambitious rat was to the culinary arts.
Moana Head of Animation Hyrum Osmand (Zootopia, Frozen, Wreck It Ralph, Tangled) and Story Artist David Derrick Jr. (How To Train Your Dragon, Flushed Away, Bee Movie) talked with the press in a roundtable before speaking to the visual arts students at the University of Denver. Tucked away in a corner of the university, David tapped into what made Moana so personal to him, allowing him to segue easily into the film’s themes of Polynesian ancestry and culture while Hyrum explored the unique challenges this particular film offered Disney’s elite animators.

Chicago – “Moana” is a solid example of the time honored Disney musical. It is exactly the sort of sun drenched warm weather beacon we residents of cold weather climes can enjoy as the holiday season approaches, and it a refreshing change from another spin of Mele Kalikimaka.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
In many ways “Moana” is more fun than this season’s other relentlessly upbeat musical “Trolls.” It goes without saying that a Disney film is going to look terrific, but Moana’s blue waters, beautifully lush landscapes, and splashes of inventive flights of fancy are so inviting I wanted to just dive right in without giving your eye socket a cavity. There are catchy songs courtesy of “Hamilton” creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, an appealingly spunky heroine and the Rock. And…this just might be my daughter’s favorite movie of the year.

2016 appears to be the year when animation truly ruled the box office, perhaps even more than it did 17 years ago. Of course, the still-reigning animated feature king is Pixar, who had the biggest grossing flick of the year with its sequel Finding Dory. Hot on their heels are the upstarts at Illumination Entertainment and Universal (home of the Minions) who had a smash hit with The Secret Life Of Pets and will be back at the multiplex in just a couple of weeks with Sing. We’ve seen films based on established properties Angry Birds and Trolls along with another Ice Age sequel and the fantasy Storks. The talented folks at Laika (Coraline) dazzled us with Kubo And The Two Strings. Oh, there was even an R-rated (for very raunchy) CGI feature Sausage Party Pixar’s sister company Walt Disney Animation (both studios films are released under the Disney banner...

The Polynesian-themed “Moana” required significant tech upgrades for water and hair, especially since the ocean interacts with the teenage heroine and the coiled hairstyling needed to flow more naturally.
So to mark their first CG movie, hand-drawn directors John Musker and Ron Clements (“The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin”) insisted on a 2D aesthetic that bridged the gap even closer.
“The greatest thing of hand-drawn is the expressiveness and the animators were happy to push it with tricks to break the CG and make it bend more,” Musker told IndieWire. “We also really loved working in the hand-drawn elements like the moving tattoos and the special Mini-Maui character [a Jiminy Cricket-like conscience for Dwayne Johnson’s demigod Maui].”
“This is really the first time, at least from the point of view of the hand-drawn animators, that we all felt that we were working on the same movie together,” added 2D Animation Supervisor Eric Goldberg (“Aladdin”). “It really felt like the old...

It seems like I write this at least once or twice a year, but Disney is poised to have another big hit on their hands. They continually churn out enjoyable fare, especially with their animated musical offerings. On Wednesday, their latest hits in Moana, which very much feels like it’s a successor to Frozen. Featuring songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda and a winning bit of voice work from Dwayne Johnson, it’s poised to be a big deal during Thanksgiving. Family fare always has a leg up, and this will be no exception. It’s going to contend for awards, that’s for sure, but it will also make a mint at the box office first, and that never hurts. Audiences are in for a treat. The movie is essentially standard issue Disney princess stuff, though there’s a bit of tinkering with that premise. Young Moana (Auli’i Cravalho...

It’s time for another Disney Princess movie, and you know how it goes. Disney knows too, and wants you to know that it knows. When the title character of Moana (Auli’i Cravalho) denies that she’s a princess, claiming that she’s merely the daughter of her island’s chief and the next chieftain, her adventuring partner Maui (Dwayne Johnson) asserts, “Same difference,” and that, “You wear a dress and have an animal sidekick. You’re a princess.” But Disney is doing its best to make the culture rethink cinematic fantasy princesses, countering the stereotypes of helpless femininity (which the studio largely put in place) with a new roster of highly capable action heroines. And Moana is, as they call it, a good role model. And the movie around her is fine.

Disney’s animation roster has a history of playing with culturally insensitive fire, from the “siamese” cats in “Lady and the Tramp” to the savage Middle Eastern stereotypes in “Aladdin.” The same directors of that movie, Ron Clements and John Musker, reteam for “Moana,” the tale of a young Polynesian woman who commands the high seas to save the world. But the movie has two other co-directors, Don Hall and Chris Williams, whose credits include more recent Disney efforts such as “Big Hero 6.” While the quartet of credits may contribute to the movie’s uneven tone, it also suggests a merging of Disney’s past and present.
Visually dazzling and loaded with charm, the movie is also blatant in its quest for cultural sensitivity: It has memorable songs by “Hamilton” phenom Lin-Manuel Miranda and a first-rate mystical soundtrack by Samoan composer Opetaia Tavia Foa’i, in addition to a...

Appealing equally to the eyes, ears, heart and funny bone, Moana represents contemporary Disney at its finest — a vibrantly rendered adventure that combines state-of-the-art CG animation with traditional storytelling and colorful characters, all enlivened by a terrific voice cast. Drawing upon the folkloric cultures of the Pacific Islands, this tale about a self-possessed teen who embarks on a quest to save her home turf from looming extinction required the proven talents of two teams of directors to tell its story: Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid and Aladdin) and co-directors Chris Williams and Don Hall (Big Hero

This is an exciting movie for a number of reasons, including it being the return of Little Mermaid and Aladdin directors Ron Clements and John Musker (with help from Big Hero 6's Chris Williams and Don Hall), its inspiration coming from South Pacific mythology and of course its involvement of Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda as co-songwriter. This trailer gives us more reason to anticipate the release of Moana, such as the displays of magical powers held by its two main characters. The eponymous Moana (voiced by newcomer Auli'i Cravalho) has some control over water -- or maybe it's more like a friendly...

The directors of Zootropolis on the big, late change to their film, how 1/24th of a second matters, and Jason Statham…
Zootropolis finally makes its bow in UK cinemas this weekend, and it’s been well worth the wait. It continues an astonishing run from Walt Disney Animation Studios, and we were lucky enough to spend some time with its directors, Rich Moore (Rm) and Byron Howard (Bh), to chat about the film.
Here’s how it went…
Can you take us mere mortals inside a Walt Disney Animation Studios pitch meeting, where a project like this begins? Where you take four or five ideas to John Lasseter? Is it as brutal as it sounds?
Bh: He’s not as brutal as you might think!
Rm: John’s mom was an art teacher. So John really has that talent of picking out something nice about everything that someone does.

Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran sat down with Iyanla Vanzant for an exclusive interview on Own’s Iyanla: Fix My Life Saturday night to discuss everything from Brown’s betrayal to her career aspirations. But let’s be real. We all wanted to know one thing: What the hell was she thinking going back to Breezy after he lied, cheated on her, and fathered a baby with another woman? Vanzant asked all the hard questions, and the hour certainly didn’t disappoint.
