Every month, we nominate a bookseller-endorsed LP for Record of the Month and promote the album, band, and label throughout the course of the month. We put heavy emphasis on local and/or off-the-beaten track artists and labels with the intention of bringing support and attention to our community's vibrant creative landscape.
At 7pm on the last Saturday of the month we host a FREE listening party at our 9th Ave location and spin the album in-store.
Ever wondered what people who spend all day around books read? Find out!
Our staff love giving out recommendations and talking about their most recent read, so each of them have a page of their favorites with a quote or review that they feel shows off the book's qualities they loved so much. Check them out!
Sometimes the hardest part of picking your next book to read is the choosing itself! Our Apple-A-Month club is a subscription service that sends you 1 new release fiction paperback per month.
The books are hand picked by our staff and most always from a small press so that 1) we can support these books that we believe in that do not have big publisher marketing, and 2) we can be confident that you do not already have this on your shelf.

July Bookseller's Choice
Each month, we select a brand new book that we love so much that we guarantee you'll love it too.
All Friends Are Necessary by Tomas Moniz Why do I love All Friends Are Necessary so much? Is it because it takes place in the Bay Area? Includes shoutouts to Bender’s, The Roxie, and Donut Savant? Is it because Chino is a little freak who loves people’s bodies? Is it because even strangers can be kind in this world? Yes.
And it’s also because this is a story about coming back to sensation after loss. It’s about sensuousness and sensuality. It’s about just how great friends can be. What I liked most about this book, though, is that it looks so much like my life and reflects my world more than any other way I’ve seen in fiction before. It shows how I spend my time and what I value. My friends are all represented here: booksellers, artists, sex workers, teachers, musicians who all have one thing in common–they’re really caring and conscientious people. Please, please read this testament to the peach emoji. And please, please give it to a friend. –Kar
