Game notes: The Tigers return home from a 5-5 road trip to face the American League Central Division-leading Guardians. The Tigers are only 15 games behind just past the season’s halfway mark, but they’ll get a chance to test their mettle this week before the All-Star break with four games against Cleveland and then three vs. the National League West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers. Keider Montero starts in place of Jack Flaherty for the Tigers vs. the Guards’ Gavin Williams, making his second start this season. The Tigers lost two of three in Cleveland in early May.
