2024 MLB MVP race, odds: Ohtani, Judge separate from the pack; Witt Jr. surging

Updated Jul. 23, 2024 3:38 p.m. ET

The MLB All-Star break has come and gone, and it feels like the MVP races have already been decided.

In the American League, New York has been in a major slump. The Yankees lost 16 out of 23 games from June 19 until the beginning of the All-Star break.

However, Aaron Judge has remained sensational.

With the first half of the season in the books, the Yankees slugger has hit for .310 with 89 RBI and a league-leading 35 home runs.

Judge has been so dominant that his MVP odds shortened to -350 from -300 over the past week, despite the Yanks' spiral.

With such a large lead at this point, perhaps a better bet would be if he can eclipse the 60 home run mark for the second time in his career.

If there were any player looking to make things interesting, it would be Bobby Witt Jr

At the All Star break, Witt was +2000 to win MVP. But after a scorching hot start to the second half of the season, Witt's odds have jumped to +800.

Since the break, Witt has 12 hits in 15 at-bats, including two home runs and six RBIs in that span. In Monday's game against the Diamondbacks, Witt was a single shy of the cycle before getting hit by a pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning, which prevented him from a chance to make history.

Let's check out the AL MVP odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of July 23.

Ohtani, who moved into the NL favorite slot after Mookie Betts went down, has distanced himself from the competition. He has a .313 batting average, 30 homers and 70 RBIs.
