Titusville police are "deeply concerned" about what may have happened to Lori Upthegrove, Deputy Chief Todd Hutchinson said Friday.

The 51-year-old Titusville resident's mysterious disappearance has left her family and friends perplexed and police suspecting the possibility of foul play.

A police search of the city and northern part of the county have yielded no hints about the woman's whereabouts.

A group of residents on a local Facebook page have attempted to start a citizens' search, but police say they don't even know where to begin.

"A group has reached out to us wanting help search, but we don't have any viable information on her whereabouts on where to conduct that search," Hutchinson said. "If we have a need, we will absolutely utilize them."

Upthegrove was last seen by her family Sunday at her home on the 600 block of Cleveland Street.

Three days later, Upthegrove's husband, Timothy Upthegrove, was arrested and charged with obstructing the investigation into his wife's disappearance. He was found Wednesday at the Days Inn on Cheney Highway with Upthegrove's car.

Timothy Upthegrove, 52, of Titusville, charges: Contempt of court non support.

Timothy told an officer he last saw his wife when she left their home Monday morning, according to an arrest report. Timothy said he then found her truck, a white Izuzu Rodeo, abandoned in front of the Sav-A-Lot on Cheney Highway — which lies just behind the couple's house — Tuesday afternoon.

Then, later in the interview with the officer, Timothy changed his story.

"Listen, I need to come clean about [sic] you about something man," Timothy said to police, according to reports.

Timothy told police his wife "threw the keys" to her truck at him Monday morning. "I had the truck ever since," Police report Timothy said.

Because of his changing story, police say they had to reshift their focus of the investigation.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is assisting Titusville police in the criminal investigation, which has yielded Timothy as the only person of interest so far, Hutchinson said.

"Our investigators continue to work around-the-clock following up every possible lead," Hutchinson said.
