A seventh-grade boy died at DeLaura Middle School in Satellite Beach Monday afternoon after collapsing between classes, according to school officials.

"In between class changes around midday, he collapsed and was unresponsive," Brevard Public Schools spokeswoman Jennifer Wolfinger said. "The school staff got to him right away, as well as emergency medical staff."

The student was then transported to a local hospital, and school administrators were informed that he had passed away later in the afternoon.

Grief counselors are already on campus and will be present tomorrow as well, Wolfinger said.

The identity of the student has not been released by school officials as of Monday afternoon. No information was immediately released on how the student died.
