midnight, yonge street, summerhill
Midnight, Yonge Street, underneath the CPR Summerhill Railway Overpass. Summerhill Station was designed in the Beaux-Arts style by the firm Darling and Pearson for the Canadian Pacific Railway- - -the train station opened in 1916. Declining ridership and revenues closed the station for passenger service in 1930- - -the adjacent rail line remained operational. The building languished until 2004, when it was restored and reopened as the Liquor Control Board of Ontario’s (LCBO) flagship store- - -Canada’s largest liquor store. Future plans for the rail line and station(?) envision a commuter line from Milton To Peterborough via Midtown Toronto, operated by GO Transit/Metrolinx to relieve anticipated congestion at downtown Union Station.
