Joey King Admits She Was Obsessed With Zac Efron as a Kid: 'Had His Face on Everything'

Joey King shared with Jimmy Fallon that she had a major crush on co-star Zac Efron during her childhood.

Joey King made a charming revelation during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week.

The star of Netflix's A Family Affair confessed to host Jimmy Fallon that she had a major crush on her co-star, Zac Efron, long before they shared the screen together.

"I love him. I grew up with his face on everything I owned," King gushed. Fallon, amused, asked, "Did you have a Zac Efron lunchbox or something?"

"Did I have... among everything else!" King replied enthusiastically. "All the merch that I could get my hands on. I was one of those kids, I was like, 'Mom, the movie is going to be on at 8/7 Central. I don’t know what that means, but I have to be home to watch.'"

King reminisced about her love for Efron, particularly his role in High School Musical, and how surreal it was to share her adoration with him while filming together. "He was so gracious about it," she shared with Fallon. "I would sing on set. He would sing along with me and that was so great."

In A Family Affair, King plays the daughter of Nicole Kidman's character, who watches her mother fall in love with her famous actor boss, portrayed by Efron.

Kidman left a lasting impression on King -- and her buns. The 24-year-old actress also spoke about her onscreen mom's impact on her fitness routine.

"She taught me the most epic, awful butt workout I've ever learned in my life. It was, like, so intense," King said of 57-year-old Kidman. "I was like, 'I'm a youngster. I can hang. I'm young, and I'm agile.' I thought I could hang, but I couldn't hang."

As for the workout that did King in, she shared, "It was these donkey kicks and the rainbows and the fire hydrants and all these other [moves]. But you have to keep your leg in the air for, like, 12 years. It's so hard."

Even though filming wrapped on the comedy, King said that she still practices the workout.

"I do it still because it's the most effective workout, so I send her photos when I do it. I'm like, 'Call an ambulance, love you!'" King quipped.

King called the Oscar winner "just a sweet and silly, fun person," adding, "She's such a girl's girl."

As for the High School Musical alum's contribution to King's fitness regimen, she noted, "He was also, again, so fit, and he helped teach me about my protein intake. He's very helpful with the wellness tips."

ET spoke with King in June at the premiere of A Family Affair about the lighthearted comedy.

"I hope [audiences] take away a big, ole smile on their face. This movie is so fun," she mused. "It's got a lot of heart to it, but mostly I want people to have so much fun. We're in our fun era."
