From Matcha To Mint, Wimbledon Is Inspiring The Return Of Green Nails

Spotted everywhere, from myriad A-listers to our favourite nail influencers, and even on the grounds of Wimbledon, where the colour is always centre court, green (in all its varieties) has become a go-to nail colour of choice this summer.

'Green feels fresh and it’s a great transition shade to take us from winter into summer,' says nail influencer Melanie Graves (aka @overglowedit). 'There’s also a ton of range where you can pick a deeper emerald colour for a moody vibe or a neon bright for something more playful.'

Nail artist Iram Shelton agrees: 'I think it’s such a statement colour and can really speak to you depending on your vibe. A really bright green (such as, OPI Pricele$$) can lift your mood, meanwhile, a more muted green like a matcha or sage green shade can bring out peace and balance.'

What’s the 2024 way to wear green nail polish?

According to Graves, abstract swirls and shapes are the way to go. 'You don’t need nail art tools and there’s no wrong way to do it – using your polish brush you can swirl or create shapes that look fresh and organic.'

As for the biggest trends taking shape this summer? 'Adding a touch of chrome to a matcha green shade is such a hit right now and adding a pop of green to French tips is a fun way to spice up your nails for summer during Wimbledon,' says Shelton. 'I love mixing textures with greens and adding embellishments. I’ve also seen people opting for darker shades during summer and the emerald green nails, although it’s definitely more of an AW option, but can look really chic during summer too,' notes Shelton.
