Meet the Louisville-area 2023-2024 girls Athlete of Year from Assumption High School

Assumption field hockey standoutAnna Krebs is The Courier Journal 2023-2024 girls Athlete of the Year, as voted by our readers.

The Northwestern signee was named 2023 Miss Field Hockey by the Kentucky High School Field Hockey Coaches Association. She recorded four goals and eight assists last season, leading the Rockets to a 16-11-2 record.

ZaKiyah Johnson, Sacred Heart basketball

Sacred Heart's ZaKiyah Johnson was named the Gatorade Kentucky Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the third consecutive year.

ZaKiyah Johnson averaged 18.9 points per game, leading Sacred Heart to its fourth consecutive KHSAA title. For the third straight year, Johnson was named the Gatorade Kentucky Girls Basketball Player of the Year. She is also a member of Team USA's Under-18 team.

Ellie Hammond, Sacred Heart tennis

Ellie Hammond, a Davidson signee, finished her senior year strong, winning her third consecutive singles title at the KHSAA state tennis meet.

Charlotte Crush, Sacred Heart swimming

Sacred Heart’s Charlotte Crush relaxes after winning the 100 butterfly final at the KHSAA girls swim meet.

Charlotte Crush was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer in the regional meet and won the 100 butterfly (51.41 seconds) and 100 backstroke at the KHSAA state championship. In the morning prelims, she set a meet record in the 100 fly (51.33 seconds).

Hallie Roberts, Eastern softball

Senior pitcher Hallie Roberts was 23-7 with two saves, a 1.56 ERA and 310 strikeouts in 186 innings. Ranked fifth in the state in strikeouts and tied for fifth in victories. Named Seventh Region Player of the Year and first-team All-State. Signed with Lindsey Wilson College.
