I believe in fat liberation, and part of my own journey has been finding stores—online and IRL—where I feel confident and safe shopping. Plus-size clothes can be difficult to find, and sometimes, you just don’t feel like combing through countless clothing racks, praying you’ll find your size. On those days, I turn to my fave plus-size or size-inclusive clothing brands, where I know I’ll always find my fit, whether it be a cottagecore dress or a new summer work outfit.

Though there’s still a long way to go, plus-size clothing is more accessible than ever, thanks to plus-size brands like Eloquii and more straight-size (typically 00-16) brands like Old Navy and Anthropologie now offering extended sizing. Shopping as a plus-size woman used to feel impossible, but now it’s much easier to find plus-size clothes for all occasions and styles. Whether you’re looking for a hiking outfit or a spring date outfit, there are plus-size options for you—you just gotta know where to find them. After years of struggling to find cute clothes, I’ve curated a list of the best plus-size and size-inclusive clothing brands to shop to make curating your perfect wardrobe a little easier.

1
Best Size-Inclusive Brand Overall

Universal Standard

Universal Standard
Shop at Universal Standard
Pros
  • Every style is available in all sizes
  • Goes up to a size 40
Cons
  • Most of the dress styles tend to have a looser fit, which some may not prefer

Universal Standard is the gold standard of size inclusivity. Every single item of clothing comes in sizes 00-40. Every. Single. One. And the clothes are designed for a sample size 18 (which they call a Medium), so you’re not getting clothes that were originally made to fit only sizes 0-12. The brand offers many items that are made to mix and match, so you can build an entire capsule wardrobe or just shop for specific, more high-quality pieces.

My review: My favorite thing about Universal Standard is the range. The store offers basics—tees, jeans, underwear—as well as dresses, outerwear, and even swimsuits. There are no price hikes for extended sizes and, in my experience, everything is well made and cut from fabric built to last.

2
Best Plus-Size Clothes on a Budget

ASOS

ASOS
Pros
  • Super affordable
Cons
  • Size ranges aren’t consistent

ASOS has a large Plus and Curve section, which offers a lot of the same items as the straight-size section—but not all. And extended sizes are only viewable on separate pages, meaning it’s not easy to compare plus-size and straight-size prices. That said, ASOS is great if you want trendy pieces on a budget. And ASOS doesn’t just have ASOS brand clothes, the online retailer also carries plus-size items from Topshop and Calvin Klein.

Glowing Customer Review: “Material has a thick linen feel, fitted around the waist and bust. Really pleased, and good value for the money.”

3
Best On-Trend Plus-Size Clothes

Anthropologie

Anthropologie
Pros
  • Slightly generous fit is perfect for those in-between sizes
Cons
  • Extended sizes aren’t available in-store, only online

Anthropologie’s expansion of extended sizing has, quite frankly, completely changed my life. The brand now offers a ton of its signature pieces, like the Somerset Dress, in plus sizes (at no additional cost). And it’s not just Anthropologie’s in-house lines, like Maeve and Pilcro, that offer plus sizes. Brands like Hutch and Mac Duggal also have plus-size items available at Anthro.

  • Size range: XXS-3X (00-28)
  • Price: Most range from $28-300
  • Best for: Dresses
  • Our pick: Somerset Maxi Dress

Glowing Customer Review: “As a plus-size gal, I appreciate an option that is cute, flattering, and super comfy that also has a true short sleeve (I’m not a fan of cap sleeves). I wear my couple of Somerset dresses every week all summer. They are very cool and comfortable for the warm weather.”

Best Plus-Size Brand for Jeans

Good American

Good American
Pros
  • So. Many. Styles.
  • Good Curve collection also offers jeans designed specifically for curvy body types
Cons
  • Sizing isn’t always consistent, so read reviews before ordering

No matter what size you are or have been, odds are you’ve had at least one traumatic experience while jean shopping. Good American offers dozens of denim styles in multiple washes and varying stretch levels, so you can say goodbye to the jump-and-pull dance of getting into a too-tight pair of skinny jeans forever. Good American also sells workwear, bodysuits, and loungewear—all Khloé Kardashian–approved, of course—but the jean selection is really where the brand shines.

  • Size range: 00-32 (jeans), XS-5XL (tops and dresses)
  • Price: Most range from $49-229
  • Best for: Jeans
  • Our pick: Good ’90s Jeans

Glowing Customer Review: “I cannot recommend these jeans enough—I constantly receive compliments on them! The fit, quality, and material are all incredible and I am always excited to support a brand aimed at inclusivity and sustainability."”

5
Best Plus-Size Brand for Workwear

Eloquii

Eloquii
Pros
  • Selection of office-appropriate clothes is really good
  • Brand also offers a wide-range of styles for all occasions, including swim
Cons
  • Pants almost always need hemming

Eloquii is my favorite mid-price point plus-size brand to shop because it offers clothes that look nice and high-end without the luxury price tag. I personally am a big fan of the brand’s workwear—the site always has a good array of blazers, pantsuits, and wide-leg pants that look good in and out of the office. What I love most is that I’m often between sizes, and Eloquii has tons of options with an elastic waist at the back, so I can size down and get the right fit in the leg and at my waist! (P.S. I’m a fan of the brand’s dresses too.)

  • Size range: 14-32
  • Price: Most range from $20-150
  • Best for: Cute business-casual options
  • Our pick: Printed Wide Leg Pant

Glowing Customer Review: “Very cute, I love the fun pattern. They do fit well (a touch tight, but I bought a size smaller than usual) and appear to be made sturdy. They are lightweight, so they’ll be great in the summer. I love that it has pockets!"”

6
Best Plus-Size Clothing Brand for Matching Sets

Rebdolls

Rebdolls
Pros
  • Wide variety of prints and colorful options
Cons
  • Limited offerings sell fast

Rebdolls is another brand that aims to bring affordable, stylish clothes to women of all sizes. What I love about it is that it doesn’t follow the outdated belief that plus-size women need to hide their bellies—or any other parts of themselves—so it’s got a lot of stretchy, close-to-the-body style sets and dresses.

Best Plus-Size Clothes for Working Out

Girlfriend Collective

Girlfriend Collective
Pros
  • Offers various degrees of compression for your perfect fit
Cons
  • Colors sell out *FAST*

Good quality, size-inclusive exercise clothes can be hard to pin down, especially if you need something that’ll give you support during high-impact workouts. Girlfriend Collective does it all. It’s cute, well made (so it won’t rip at the seams the second you do a deep squat), and everything is available in sizes XXS-6XL, so you can finally get a cute workout set that fits without having to mix and match whatever pieces you find in your size (though you totally can if that’s your style!).

Glowing Customer Review: “Just ordered two more. As a 5'10" 290 lbs. active woman, finding a pair of leggings that stay put during yoga, workouts, hiking, and whatnot...well, it’s difficult. To my amazement and delight, these leggings stay put. I’ve been wearing them for a little over a month now, and they don’t shimmy down, they don’t ride up, and they don’t have excess crotch fabric. These float leggings simply stay put and I couldn’t be happier.”

8
Best Plus-Size Clothes for Summer Dresses

Hill House Home

Hill House Home
Pros
  • The Ellie Nap Dress is available in multiple kinds of fabric, colors, and patterns, so you can pick what works best for you
Cons
  • Extended sizes have limited availability

Hill House is best-known for its signature Ellie Nap Dress, which is super comfy thanks to the elastic smocking top and A-line skirt, and, yes, the Ellie Nap Dress does come in extended sizes. What makes the dress so special is its versatility. Depending on how you style it, you can make it your lounge-around-the-house dress or your going-out dress.

  • Size Range: XXXS-XXXXL (000-30)
  • Price: Most range from $150-250
  • Best for: Cottage core
  • Our pick: The Ellie Nap Dress

Just note: Other pieces on the site (the Ophelia dress, the Anjuli Nap Dress) are also available in extended sizing, although the size range is not as wide as the Ellie Nap Dress.

Glowing Customer Review: “The Ellie Nap Dress is so versatile and can be worn to almost every event. Throw it on with a pair of white sneakers for a day out. Throw it on with a pair of sandals for a fun date night or brunch. Throw it on with a pair of wedges or heels for a rehearsal dinner evening event. I have this dress in about 7 colors and patterns and I always get compliments.”

9
Best Plus-Size Clothing Brand for Basics

Old Navy

Old Navy
Pros
  • There’s almost always a sale going on
Cons
  • Tops in tall and petite sizes are only available up to a XXL

Ever since Old Navy introduced extended sizing, it’s been one of my go-to stores. Not only does Old Navy sell every clothing item under the sun, from workwear to beachwear, but it’s all available in extended sizes. And you cannot beat the price point. Every year, I buy a hand full of plain white tanks that I can wear with jeans, skirts, and shorts. I always have an outfit that fits in my closet!

  • Size range: XS-4X (00-30)
  • Price: Most range from $10-40
  • Best for: Basics
  • Our pick: First Layer Tank Top

Glowing Customer Review: “First layer must have. I almost always wear a nude cami under my outfit, these are my go-to. They’re true to size and great for a seamless layer."”

Best Plus-Size Brand at Amazon

The Drop

The Drop
Pros
  • Offers a lot of styles in straight and plus sizes
Cons
  • Plus-size options tend to be more expensive than straight-size

Amazon is very hit or miss when it comes to plus-size shopping, but one of the retailer's in-house lines, The Drop, is mostly the former. The brand offers a lot of well-priced dresses and basics in sizes up to 5X that’ll help you look on trend without breaking the bank.

Glowing Customer Review: “I think this is one of the highest quality pieces of clothing I’ve ever received from Amazon! The dress is a stretchy, smooth, and silky material. It drapes beautifully.”

11
Best Plus-Size Clothes for Special Occasions

Never Fully Dressed

Never Fully Dressed
Pros
  • Unique styles you won’t find anywhere else
Cons
  • Not everything is available in all extended sizes

They say you’re never fully dressed without a smile, but odds are if you actually shop at Never Fully Dressed, you’ll do alright regardless. This small, funky brand is not, strictly speaking, a plus-size clothing brand, but it does offer many styles in extended sizing. But what makes Never Fully Dressed really stand out is its bright colors and patterns, which are perfect if you want to add a little color and/or sparkle to your wardrobe.

  • Size range: 2-24 (when available in extended sizes)
  • Price: Most range from $60-250
  • Best for: Colorful dresses
  • Our pick: Lime Sequin Slip Dress

Bonus tip: If you see something you L-O-V-E that’s sold out on the Never Fully Dressed site, check ASOS, which also carries the brand’s plus-size options.

12
Best Plus-Size Clothes for Going Out

Boohoo

Boohoo
Pros
  • Can’t beat the price
Cons
  • Sizing can be inconsistent

If you’re looking for cute going-out clothes, Boohoo’s got you covered. The online retailer has a vast selection of plus-size clothing, and while it does have a nice selection of special occasion dresses (Plus-Size Wedding Guest Dresses and Plus-Size Prom Dresses both have their own subsection), I prefer Boohoo’s more casual fare, especially cute dresses and sets that are perfect for weekend plans.

Best Plus-Size Bras

Cacique by Lane Bryant

Cacique by Lane Bryant
Pros
  • Most bras have thick straps to avoid shoulder pain
  • Also sells lingerie
Cons
  • Thick straps and bands can be tougher to hide in the summer

Don’t sleep on Lane Bryant’s line of intimates, Cacique. I pretty much exclusively wear Cacique bras because they have thick bands and straps, so it never feels like it’s digging into my skin. My personal fave is the Comfort Bliss Lightly Lined Multi-Way Strapless Bra. It’s a total summer game changer. And Lane Bryant also offers a wide range of styles, from oversized tunics and peplum to formfitting dresses and jeans.

Glowing Customer Review: “Really nice strapless bra. I have only had one other strapless bra as I am pretty chesty and always worried that the bra wouldn’t hold, but this one is great! I love the versatility of using the straps to criss-cross under a tank top or no straps at all.”

14
Best Plus-Size Department Store

Macy's The Nina Parker Collection

The Nina Parker Collection
Pros
  • Carries many brand names in plus-sizes
  • Great source for coats in extended sizes
Cons
  • Not all Macy’s stores have plus-size sections

Macy’s has an entire Plus-Size section that carries extended sizes of big names like Tommy Hilfiger, Levi’s, and Calvin Klein. One of my favorite lines only available at Macy’s is from Nina Parker, a fashion designer and TV host.

The Nina Parker Collection is full of bold colors and matching sets, which I love because you can mix and match or rock a monochromatic look. Almost every item in the Nina Parker Collection also has a some stretch, so you won’t have to go to war every time you have to hook, zip, or button.

Glowing Customer Review: “Beautiful color. I purchased all three. Looks even better in person. Absolutely fabulous! Be mindful it is oversized, so size down. I normally wear a 1X, but purchased this particular top in a 0X.”

15
Best Plus-Size Clothing Brand for Prints

Torrid

Torrid
Pros
  • Also sells a line of wide-fit shoes
  • Offers bras up to a 54C
Cons
  • Some styles can feel a little busy, if that’s not your vibe

Torrid is one of the only plus-size brands out there that caters to a younger customer base, which means it’s not all workwear and solid colors (though it has that too). If you have more of a laidback style, this is where you wanna go. And for all my fellow geeks out there, Torrid also has a whole Fangirl section, which offers branded merch from big names like Disney, Marvel, and various sports teams.

Glowing Customer Review: “For the first time ever, I dont look frumpy in loose flowy pants. I’m so used to my skinny jeans, this was a refreshing change.”

Best Plus-Size Brand for Wedding Guest Dresses

City Chic

City Chic
Pros
  • Huge selection of styles to choose from
Cons
  • Only goes up to a size 24

I first discovered City Chic when my friends started to get married and I needed to find clothes that looked nice and would be comfortable to dance in. Needless to say, I’ve since bought many a wedding guest dress from the brand. City Chic offers a nice mix of business and casual wear, so you can find something for every occasion. Plus, the brand also sells wide-width shoes and lingerie.

  • Size Range: 12-24
  • Price: Most range from $25-150
  • Best for: Special occasions
  • Our pick: Malia Dress

My review: As noted above, City Chic is often my first stop when I’m looking for a nice cocktail dress. I love a fit and flair silhouette, and City Chic has so many options. I’ve never worn a City Chic dress that didn’t get me tons of compliments.

P.S. You can also shop a select range from City Chic on Amazon!

17
Best Plus-Size Swimsuit Brand

Swimsuits for All

Swimsuits for All
Pros
  • Offers underwire swimsuits for extra support
Cons
  • The padding can be a little big depending on the size

I swear by Swimsuits for All. For the first time in my adult life, I have bathing suits that fit comfortably and look sexy. The brand has matching bikinis, separates, one-pieces, cover-ups—pretty much everything you need for a fashionable day at the beach. What I love most about it is that some swimsuits come in bra sizes, so you can find a bikini that actually offers support and adequate coverage.

Glowing Customer Review: “Great fit, and super comfy! It’s so nice to get a swimsuit bottom that actually covers my bottom. Not a fan of the ‘cheeky’ look or sensation!”

18
Best Plus-Size Clothing Splurge

Selkie

Selkie
Pros
  • Unique designs that are really high-quality
Cons
  • It’s a splurge

Selkie is known for its dreamy, princess fairy dresses, and, yes, they do come in plus sizes. So if you’ve always dreamed of being a princess, now is your time. Selkie dresses are a splurge, but they are also immediately recognizable and inimitable. You’ll feel like a queen...and look like one too.
