ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orange County judge granted a delay Tuesday in the criminal trial of former Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill.

Hill was arrested in March after she was accused of taking more than $100,000 from a 96-year-old woman and using the woman’s name to secure a mortgage for a home.

Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., suspended Hill from her post one week after her arrest.

Hill has denied any wrongdoing.

During a pre-trial hearing on Tuesday, her attorney asked the court for a delay in Hill’s trial, which was scheduled to start on July 22.

Prosecutors did not object, prompting Judge Michael Kraynick to grant the delay.

Hill’s next pre-trial hearing will take place on Sept. 17, and her trial is now slated for the week of Sept. 30.
