SOUND OFF: New slogans on welcome signs at Florida border

Signs will now read “Free State of Florida”

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A new slogan has been printed on welcome signs at Florida’s border, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

In a release on Tuesday, FDOT officials announced that these signs will now read as follows:

According to the FDOT, the signs will be placed along major state roadways leading into and out of the state.

“The new signage now features messages highlighting Florida’s status as a top tourist destination, including ‘Hurry Back’ signs that pay homage to the historic mid-century welcome centers,” the release reads.

FDOT Sec. Jared Perdue unveiled the new slogan over the weekend on Twitter, saying there’s “no better way to celebrate Independence Day Weekend.”
