Dr. Manette Sandor

Manette Sandor studies how climate change and increased fire impacts western US forests and other ecological communities. Fire in the western US is both an acute and long-term issue. It requires accurate predictions of future fire, a thorough understanding of how more severe fires affect ecosystems, and potentially novel management approaches to prevent climate-driven worst-case fire scenarios. Sandor’s work synthesizes fire ecology, forest structure and community dynamics, and applied management within western US socioecological systems to understand what the future of these systems look like and how we can apply evidence-based management strategies to mitigate increasingly severe and frequent fires.
